Need some tire size input

Picking up some new tread soon, just wanted to hear some opinions on my decisions. Current tires are stock 215/55/17 on 17x7 G35 sedan wheels and sidewalls ware extremely beefy.

I couldnt decide on 215/45/17 or 215/40/17. I also considered running a 225 but was thinking it would balloon and poke out on a 7 inch rim and keep me from pushing wheels out with spacers. The roads in my area are not too bad. There are some rough areas, but I know where to look out and avoid. There are plenty of cities that are much worse. Would a 40 sidewall be too thin?

Im going to pick up some spacers shortly after I get the tires mounted. Im fairly set on ordering 20mm rear and 10mm front, unless someone thinks otherwise and I might consider something else...any comments?

don't go from 55 to 40 on the same width, you will regret it... go at least 45, 225 might not hurt either

Unless you lower the car, it will look like a 4x4 with 40's or 45's.

It is lowered, nothing stupid low (not calling out anyone) lol. If your just looking at the wheels its hard to tell though cause they look so far away from the body still due to tire size...and with my $hitty pictures, its hard to tell wheel gap from tire , but its actually about one finger gap, maybe even tucking a tiny bit of tire. See here:

What size tires do you have Rods03Max? Those might me a little small for me. Im leaning towards a 45 series. I would like to run a 225 also, I just dont want it to bulge off the face of the wheel.

What springs do you have? I'm still running the OEM tire from the G35 (got them from a family guy that took them off the car the day he bought it). I've been thinking about a larger sidewall.

235/45/17 or 245/40/17 or 245/40/18 will work

that's not tucking any tire, bro! and you've got 2 fingers in the back and 1.5 fingers in the front(tha's what she said,lol!)...if you jump down to a 45 you're gonna hate the look of it. With our wheel well a 45 wall looks best on a 245 tire that is wrapped around an 18x8.5 rim. the 225 on a typical 7/7.5j rim will look good, but only with a minimum of a 50 wall for a 17" rim.

less wall = less tuck
more wall = more tuck and smoother ride

my $.02

I would probably go 225/50 if you say you would.

I'd leave the tires on there that you already have. BUT, if you need new tires anyways you should shop in the performance tire market instead of economy tires if you are looking into better performance for 'spirited' driving.
