DEK Knock Sensor Question
Hey guys I know some of you have been helping me out in my No start thread so I just have a quick easy question for the good people of Maxima.org.
Is the KS harness accessible without pulling the UIM/LIM on my 5th gen Maxima? Or do I have to pull it?

Not trying to threadjack but since the OP question has been answered and my KS is ok ATM it seems like a good chance to ask a couple questions that I don't need immediately answered.
1. Is KS same as 4th gen?
2. If no does it still suffer from same issues as 4th gen?
3. Replacing 5.0 5th gen KS is <, >, or = to 4th gen?
4. I know on 4th gen a bad KS will not set off the SES light, is this still true on the 5th gen?
Thanks. I've replaced 4th gen KS 4 times, never had to take the IM off so just want to know what to expect if I ever have to do it on this 5th gen.

The 2000 and 1997 knock sensors have different part numbers, so they are not exactly the same. I don't know what the difference is.
2. If no does it still suffer from same issues as 4th gen?
It does the same job so it will have the same issues associated with it.
3. Replacing 5.0 5th gen KS is <, >, or = to 4th gen?
I haven't replaced a ks on a 5th gen, but from looking at it, I would think it would be more difficult.

Yes, this is true on the 5th gen also.
