Need help with my RPM dips after modding

About a year ago I put in my Y pipe and a few days later my RPMs would dip below idle when I would slow to a stop. For the past year, my car stays alive but it still just catches before the car turns off. Every once in a great while, the car will turn off. Now that I have my Greddy catback in, the car turns off at stops more often. Can anyone help me with this? I brought the car to Nissan a while ago and they charged me $48 for looking for the problem. Well they claimed that they cleaned my SI and said that there was some dirt in the intake (Liars!) and then told me that they ran a test and got some error codes. They charged me money and said it might be the MAF sensor that could be broken. It would cost me $500 to get a new one even though they are not sure this is the problem. Can they test the MAF? Is it possibly the sensors in the Y pipe?

go to the Auto Parts store.. get some Throttle Body Cleaner for Fluid Injected Cars.. get an old tooth brush.. WITH THE ENGINE OFF have someone press down hard on the gas pedal.. and use the cleaner and the tooth brush to clean the throttle body

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to try it. But, I don't really live in a dirty area. Do these things dirty easy? Why couldn't Nissan tell me this?
