Help my maxima wont start

Last night 100 miles from home my car would'nt start,In an effort to get it home I rigged it by unplugging the 1 wire lead on the starter and jumping it with 12 volts from the battery while turning the key and I got it running and home. Now that is what I have to do to get it running. I turn the key all the lights on the dash that are supposed to light up work like they should but car will not start without the rig job.Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Thank you

If the starter works when you jump it, and your fuses/relays are good, sounds like you need a new ignition switch. OR you have that security program malfunction (vehicle Immobilizer) that seems to be fairly common on Maximas.

Thanks Trooplewis I am thinking it is the inhibit relay,I did the switching of the same type relay to test and the inhibit relay which I don't have a spare one to test I removed and the car starts and runs in the rig job mode that I stated above.
