Which Oil to Use?

Whats going on guys? Recently checked the oil in my maxima and saw that the oil is a bit low which makes me thinking my car is burning a little oil. Im going to go ahead and do an oil change but before I go ahead and do that, I was curious to know what oil type/brand you'd guys reccommend. I would think something a little thicker would be a better choice to help prevent as much oil burning as it can. Do you guys think mobil 5w-40 synthetic will suffice? The motor has around 90k miles on it.

5w30 Castrol GTX High Mileage when on sale or 5w30 Supertech (Walmart) High Mileage normally. Check oil periodically and fill as needed. Since our VQ's are well known for burning oil, seems ridiculous to spend the money on synthetics. That is, UNLESS you have one that doesn't burn.

2002 SE with 164k+ miles, burns oil, and still going strong. Bought it with 59k miles.

Burning oil is a common problem with vq35de motors. Your 00 gle doesn't have this motor, which is why you don't have an oil burning problem.

30-32 bucks for syn oil (mobil 1/EP, castrol/edge) with a quality filter (mobil/K&N) isn't expensive and neither is adding a couple/few quarts till you change again. And if you're really burning, then that's just all the longer you can go between changes (like 10k easy depending on driving habits).

With mostly hwy driving you can do 10k easy on good syn without burning (so not replenishing it with fresh all the time).

Run Eneos 5w30 or 5w40, ran the 0w50 weight a couple changes, didnt burn as much but pricy...all of them quiet down engine noise drastically compared to mobil 1 engine is loud lifters are alot more noticeable, the eneos eliminates it quite impressive

I spend less than $20 for an oil change/filter and about $2.50-$5 between changes to top off burning oil.

I guess we could do a comparison of how much it costs for Synthetic's vs non-syn, but it all comes down to personal opinion and an individuals cost factors.

AMSOIL 20W-50 here, been very impressed so far but if you don't live somewhere hot then that is probably a little too thick.
