150k + miles, need to replace suspension any suggestions?

Well my 02, is my great daily driver, but after 158,000 miles it defininely is riding a bit rough and I'd like to replace some suspension parts. I'm not looking for crazy performance, but since OEM parts are as much and sometimes more than aftermarket what are some reasonably priced, decent performing struts and springs? Monroe, KYB, Tokico? How about sways?

Thanks!

I'm on the same boat but my GLE mileage is half of yours...
Bounces and knocks over any and every bump...

This has been discussed ad-nauseum.

Are you planning on lowering the car or keep it stock? Springs are your first decision. Strut decision is based on springs.

I went with tokico illumina's. They are reasonably priced and preform well. They are adjustable for a stiffer perfornce type or your regualar luxorious Maxima ride that you've come to know and love. I put them in about 6 months ago and haven't regreted it at all. The price was right also. Check out www.autoanything.com Ussually free and timely shipping with good prices.

Thanks for the heads up and links! No lowering, just need to get rid of all the rattles and bouncing! I just put a new set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires on and that helped out a bunch, but still want to do some suspension b/c I know its worn out.

The more cost effective the better, but I am not looking to go bottom of the barrel by any means.

If you want to get rid of the clunking, you will probably have to also replace the strut mounts on the front. Get Moog strut mounts, about $45 a piece. You probably also need to inspect your lower control arm bushings as well as your sway bar link bushings to see if they are worn out... They can cause bad clunking noise too...

Motor mounts cause clunking too. Especially the transverse (passenger) mount.
