Best replacement HID bulb/temp for car ?

Guys,

One of my HIDs went out, and i need to replace it. I am unsure of what size it is, all i know it is D2S, and stock is 4300k. What is a good replacement temp, that everyone has been satisfied with ? I intend on buying a pair of bulbs, so might as well replace both.

I would appreciate it !

It is NOT D2S, it's D2R. There is a big difference in light output. I have a feeling that D2Rs will be fading away in the next couple of years do to all of the projector technology, only assuming that because it's hard to find my replacements anymore. 4300K-6000K would be just fine. Philips is my favorite but there a bunch of aftermarket bulbs available.

D2R Philips OEM Replacements. Doesn't get much better than those.

you can find them on ebay for a good price. It's where I got mine. Definitely replace both.

i ordered 4200k bulbs as cheap as i could find them and it was 20 bucks for the pair. I figured i wanted same color that my car had so i went with 4200 but turns out a 9 year old factory phillips bulb looks closer to 5k. Oh well.

The only downside is i originally got sent D2S which has no glare-guard on the bulb so pretty much useless in my car. I got sent another, correct, pair quickly and free. They probably wont last 9 years but my headlights go on very few hours anyway

a nice temp would be your choice, but as you asked for a nice temp
4300k to keep it simple,
6000k is a more white and the highest you should go.
anything else higher is rice and less light

Easy. The higher K you go the less light it will output. 4300K Philips like 03VQMAX said.
DDM? I thought they where going to stop selling HID's? I have bought many sets from them but I stopped. My last forums they said they where going to stop selling.

Dang! that sucks for those who have a "lifetime" warranty if they stop selling them.

re

Sorry, I bought D2R 4300k on ebay for like $12. Lets see how these go. They are so cheap, even if they dont last that long, i wouldnt care.

But they have a 2 year warranty on em so to say.

Do you really believe that you are going to get a quality xenon bulb for 12 bucks?

Do they contain the painted on high temp glare shields....(Like the factory lights do)? Normally those inexpensive bulbs skimp on all kinda high quality design features!

They probably don't, D2C is a D2S twin, just with slots to fit a D2R.

I'd say 6k in the headlights would def be noticably different and much better than stock. any higher and looks rice or blue halogen pep boyed. Tried many diff k ratings and by far best without going overboard with color or killing too much light output has been the 6k for me. even better? Both 6k headlights and fogs with a fog hid kit...beyond gorgeous

i have 6k in headlights and a fog hid kit with 6k as well..... color output looks sick! The headlight color is whiter and bluer than stock. especially when compared side by side to the 43k stock and is noticabily better looking....6k ftw its just more colorful and pretty especially on my pearl white.....next the fogs 6k h3c mini bulbs...not the same color exactly, i believe its because of the smaller fixture/bulb/ and because the fog halogen fixture is not made for the hid bulb....but the difference makes it look even better cause no headlight/fog combinations are really identical....the fogs end up in a slighly more purple hue.. LOVE the set up

You right, they do not have the painted reflector like the oem d2r bulbs do, but for $15 im not complaining for two years of service. Just saying if you on a budget get $15 dollar bulbs, they will service you fine.

Or these:

When I tried bulbs without the glare shields. It gave exactly that. Glare spots up and to the left, right where oncoming drivers faces would be. I've come to the conclusion our maxima reflectors are bottom of the line as far as HID light pattern. Glare shields are almost needed. The bulbs without it are more or less meant for projectors.

re

Ok the bulbs came through, they are from xentech/zentech.

Excellent looking bulbs, popped em in, work great so far. They do look a bit cheaper than OEM bulbs, but so far, color/temp and light are good, i am surprised.

If you have the $ get the philips ultinons 6000k. These bulbs give you that bluish/purple color.
