Smaller battery.

Was looking at getting a smaller battery. Not to crazy small like those Odyssey ones but a smaller one. What are you guys using? Optima?

I'm running the yellow top, it's smaller by a decent amount but I don't have measuremets...

Yellow is the most well rounded, decent deep cycle properties while maintaining good cranking power. Good if you have a medium-large stereo also.

Heard good things about Optima. I prefer Kirkland from Costco.

Be careful with that. The previous owner of my car had the same idea as you. It created a nightmare for me a few months ago when both the battery and the starter blew because of the battery not being right for the car. I was at a friend's house about 20 miles away from where I live and I had to get the car towed.

I'm sure it will be fine as long as the battery has the right specs for the car, but the one thing I noticed when I got the new battery in after the repair is that it was significantly larger than the old one that was bad.

If you're doing this for the purpose of having an intake that extends into the battery's spot, you might want to considering relocating it rather than replacing it.

Nice sig Wax.

Sounds like your friend didn't secure it properly, and the terminals shorted to one another. The physical size of the battery has nothing to do with it other than it may require different mounting.
