VIAS Solenoid Help

Recently bought my NWP BoP and went to install it and could not get the black tube off of the solenoid for anything. Did not want to cut it incase I need to revert back. Does anyone have any tips for removing the rubber tube from the solenoid other than cutting? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

i used a pair of needle nose pliers and got behind the hose and kind of just pried it off..If you need to cut it im sure it would be fine as long as you cut as little as possible...it's probably only a quarter inch or so.

Well since I wasn't able to get them off, I just left it stock till I got some answers. However, the rubber tubing that connected to the actual VIAS and the UIM was dry rotted away and wasn't a tight seal. So I cut off the rotted part and reconnected it. So I'm afraid that if I cut it again there won't be enough.

On a positive note, removing the dry rotted part and creating a new seal, seemed to increase my lower end response.

Go to the auto-parts store and purchase a small box of assorted rubber end-caps for like $3.00 Then remove the little vacuum hose and cap the lead, because it no longer serves a purpose.

Right, that was my plan. However I can't remove the hose from the actual solenoid in order to cap it. It seems baked on.

Just cut it off with a razor blade.

You don't really have to cap the leads on the solenoid. Do that to avoid getting dust and whatnot in the solenoid switch... but that's unlikely. It's the vacuum lead at the UIM that you need to cap, otherwise you'll get a leak with un-metered air, and get a CEL.

As long as the vacuum lead at the UIM is capped, the other end of that old hose is irrelevant; (as is the vacuum tank.) So just cut it off. Use a razor blade if you have to.

In the future, if you want to remove the BOP and restore the VIAS system, simply buy another length of hose, which is like $1/foot, or something just as inexpensive.

I just bought my NWP BOP about 3 weeks ago and it came with a cap just like these in the package for that purpose. Yours didn't include any? I used pair of needlenosed pliars to get the tube off.....don't grab it too tight and crush the tube the hose is connected to though...just a firm grab and a few slow twists...it will come off.....just be gentle.

Now that I think back, I believe you're right. NWP gives you everything you need.

I did receive one from them. The problem was simply removing the tubing from the solenoid. I'll try the pliers when I get home. I just didn't want to cut the tube if I could avoid it.

kbcnd, if ever you put the valve back in, a replacement length of hose might cost you all of $4. Just rip it up and move on already.

With this kind of timidity, I'm surprised you gathered up enough courage to install the BOP in the first place.
