only one speaker working...Non bose, 03 se.
Hi everyone, I just bought this car last week...Its a 03 SE without bose system. And I found out that the only speaker working properly is the front driver side one... no matter I`m listening to the radio or the cassette adapter for my mp3..didnt try cd coz I dont have one.. If I set the balance to R+5(all to the right), I can hear some sound from the right speaker, but only a little sound..
everything is original...anybody and give me a clue? Dont know where to put my hands on...
posted in the audio area..but no clues still...so put up one here to see if I can find something helpful?~
Thanks in advance!

Speakers are plug and play, but will have to do some work to get to them. The front speakers require you to remove the trim panel on the front door to get to it.

My driver door speaker stopped working the other day so i picked up a set of boston acoustic 6 1/2'' speakers and even with the factory head unit it sounds pretty incredible..I think the set ran me just over a hundred bucks.

door panel removal is not a big deal...but the factory speakers use special connectors.. do the after market speakers use the same connectors or I need to solder some wires?? and I see from some threads said that I need to destroy the factory speakers to reuse the ring? difficult to do or not?

When you say "I need to destroy the factory speakers to reuse the ring", I am not sure of what you are talking about. When I replaced my speakers, I removed the old one and put the new one in. But if you had to destroy the old speaker, so what? It's bad anyway.

Contact Crutchfield. And give one of their sales people a call. They should be able to recommend a decent set of factory replacements that will come with directions and the required harnesses to plug and play.

Aftermarket speakers will include wires and connectors. Just tap those wires into the existing OEM wires. Don't cut the harness off, in case you ever want to return to factory.
As for mounting, get these:

I used an air saw to cut out the factory speaker out of the basket and then mounted the speakers to that, and then bolted them back into the door.Turned out nice but was a pita to cut the speaker out to allow the new speaker to fit flush.
