Thought I'd share my 4200 mile roadtrip with everyone. Moved to Anchorage Alaska from Ohio and decided to drive my 5.5 gen with 93,000 miles. Of course, she performed flawlessly and the trip was every bit as exciting as expected:





Out to the wild west, wide flat empty road as far as you can see. I have some speedo pics but won't post those here... thanks Montana!



Made it to the Yukon! Mostly 4x4s and trucks here but I managed to find a guy in a Maroon Altima and followed him for several hundred miles. Saw moose, bear, and wild buffalo walking along the road. All paved but gravel construction in areas and pretty rough in areas with frost heaves, nasty dips, etc.



Camped, didn't get eaten by bears. Note how low the rear sits with a hitch and cargo and full trunk. Thats all stock (and probably original) suspension. O, and my SCCA sticker in the driver rear window



Made it. Not so much as a flat tire, got about 400 miles per tank with 3 people, a dog and plenty of cargo. Gas was as high as 6.35/gallon in Canada (when you convert from litres).

Thanks for sharing and that must have been a heck of a trip. That 6th gear is always great to have for long trips. That cargo haul is pretty impressive - what sort of carrier is that?

 

aackshun - you called me out, I did 55mph all the way thru s.dakota, wyoming, and montana! No offense to anyone but when you're just passing thru, those states are boring!

I installed a drawtite/cequent class 1 hitch, then got a walmart hitch carrier. It worked great, but nissan is serious when they recommend a tongue weight limit of only 100lbs. It does affect the handling and the weight transfer affects steering and the likelihood of hydroplaning in rain.
