i recently had my starter and alternator changed cause they both were dying but since then i noticed that my interior lights are dimmer when i turn on outside lights. Anyone know what would cause this?

sounds to me like your alternator is either bad from the factory or doesn't put out the amps that the OEM one did or should. I know one thing I would be pissed. If you had the install done at a shop they should fix it for you.

What should the amp output be? Could a dying fuse cause this also?

fuses dont die slowly. they fry out instantly.

this is often the result of getting an alternator thats not VIN specific.
if your car came with heated seats/fogs/bose amp - etc you will have a higher output alternator.

id check to see what alternator was used for your car(check the output on it) and then check what your car SHOULD have from the factory.

The maxima uses a 110 amp alternator made by Hitachi, model LR1110-720.

they did ask for the yr/month when i talked to them. they said something about some sort of differences between the manufacture dates. They put in a bosch alternator 110 amp (i still have the box) i dont have heated seats or bose but i do have fogs and aftermarket headunit with speakers (no amp or anything like that). Anyone have recommendations for a higher output alternator?

i think you need to find out what is draining the system, and placing such a strain on the electrical system. obviously if the starter & alternator went together, something electrical is going on.

i would replace your battery as well- and see whats going on after that. sounds like maybe something is grounding out.

Put a voltmeter across the battery while the engine is running . Voltage should be 14.2 volts. Lower than 14 volts or higher than 14.4 volts could mean an alternator problem. Turn on the lights and accessories: voltage should stay up around 13 volts. Idle engine up to 2000 RPM. Voltage should go up to 14 or so.

If you believe the FSM, there is a little more leeway on the voltage reading. The voltage for a good alternator should be between 14.1 and 14.7 volts.
