Stealing input and amp turn on from bose sub connector ??
Stealing input and amp turn on from bose sub connector ??
My bose sub is intermittent, I'm just going to buy a small amp and a 10" sub.
I searched but it doesn't seem like anyone has done this, can I grab my input and amp turn on from the bose connector . Since ill be unplugging the bose amp/sub anyways.
This would save me the trouble of running wires up into to console . Besides the power wire that is..
Anyone have any diagram links that might help me out . Thanks

It's definitely doable. Let me see if I can find the wire colors for you.
But, if you EVER plan to changing your OEM HU to aftermarket, then I'd advise running the wires from your console. It will save you the efforts later on.

Found this thread. The link in it is no good but the text has the wire colors.

Change the HU. Your sub may start working again, it will probably cost less than a sub and amp, and the aftermarket deck will make your Bose system sound better overall.

Don't think a new head unit will fix that ..
But I don't want to deal with even trying to fix it, which is why I'm thinking of getting a 10 sub , nothing crazy.
My Bose sub wasn't broken, but my friend did this for me with an extra 12 he had sitting around. It didn't have an amp so it basically sounded like a slightly upgraded version of the stock setup. I don't know what exactly he did, but from what it looked like he just spliced the wires in to where the Bose sub wires come from. It took him maybe five minutes. You should be fine going this route as long as it's the Bose sub that's the problem and not the head unit or the wiring.

I guess I've got to look into the wiring some more and see exactly what my problem is.... I have spare sub all I would have to buy is a amp.. Which for me will come out cheaper then a head unit..

The Bose sub/amp runs at 2ohm. You'll have to find a very low powered sub and wire it down to 2ohm.
Ive done it to my maxima for the same reason, remember Bose system has the amp in the trunk so if you change to after market HU there's a adapter yo need to purchase inorder to use the Bose amp and not have to rewire your car (plus Bose is 50x4), also I have the oem sub and 1 12 in connected and works fine I will find out thecolors for the plug if you need them, I just got one of those sub adapters that you would connect to your speakers and connected it to there. Also at discount(wherever) they sell this connector set that one end loops around the wire and the other one crimps onto the wire(don't know name) but they are a light blue makes install simple
Really fast don't change you HU, that's not the problem, the oem sub has a connection problem between the sub and amp. Because the amp is screwed on to the sub the vibration damages/ burns out a wire. The sub cutting in and out harassed me for a long time, any questions willing to help
I used the existing triggers and speaker wire to hook up my amp for my sub and my amp for the speakers, I just used the FSM for wiring diagrams and colours, do I really need to post that? We don't have that info? Must be in the Audio section I would think.
I have my Bose sub wiring disconnected going into the sub, and hooked wires up to it to push an 8" Boston G108, 200W RMS. Not sure what the Bose amp puts out, but I get decent sound out of it at mid to 3/4 volume. It definitely could use more wattage though. I also have in a bobo enclosure right now, with the incorrect airspace. It calls for 0.03 cu/ft or 8.5 liters sealed. Bass output is about the same. It's nice not having that annoying rear deck rattling from the Bose sub.
But id like to keep my headunit...

Im still wondering which speaker wires are + or -. And the wires would be low input correct?
I cant seem to find a free FSM anymore for my 01, the g20 or sr20 site I used to use is down ...
I'm not at home but I'll post up for you later today when I get back. I should have a link for the downloadable FSM as well. Everything I did will work for you we have the same year. I even took a few pics while wiring I can post for you.

here are 2 places for the FSM. If you have a early production 2000, do not use nicoclub.

Ok I've been away from home but haven't forgot about this. I may compile it all together and just post it in the audio forum perhaps it will get stickied.
I'll link it here at the very least, but I won't be home until the weekend
