what's up guys!
Today I had the first problem with my maxima....
A couple of weeks ago I replaced the alt serpentine belt, the one i had was in pretty bad shape, so i changed it.
Today when I started the car after work started squealing for a few seconds, but then it went away.
After 10 miles of driving to my house, I heard something that hit the underside of the car, and the battery light and brake light turned on.
My first thought was that the new belt snapped.
when I got home I checked, and found the belt just sitting there....so I popped the hood and noticed the thensioner pulley is not there.

My plan is going to the junk yard and removing the tensioner pulley from a 4th gen maxima ( I've noticed the belt set up is the same).

What could have caused this? maybe I didn't tight the pulley enough???
what's the torque on that??

thanks in advance for any tips or advice

Don't get a used tensioner from a junk yard, get a new one.

Oh ok. I've bought a few tensioners for other cars i've owned in the past, and they always came with a new pulley attached. I'm not sure if a tensioner pulley by itself can be purchased or not. Either way, I'd rather pony up the few extra bucks and get a new one for peace of mind.

yes the pulley can be purchased separate... I just changed mine a couple of months. Got one from Autozone I believe it was $20 to $25 with a lifetime warranty... So far I have put close to 7,000-8,000 miles still looks like new and no issues... I just don't see a reason to change the entire assembly...

The OEM unit from Nissan used to be 38$, pensioner + pulley. I have an extra one at home just in case.

The A32 unit works on the A33, so, I was able to borrow while it shipped. And, crap, I think I still am using the 4th gen piece come to think of it. Brand new one sitting in the garage.
