2002 6mt problems help max guys asap!

i have a 2002 6 speed with 161500 miles and im having some problems
im pretty sure i have a missfire cause from 1-2500 rpms it makes a tick noise not a knock but a very annoying tick.

when i am driving and push in the clutch it doesnt stop at idol it goes down to 0 and sometime comes back to idol but usually just dies. then starts right back up. i had the same problem with my 2001 g20t its annoying as hell to be driving down the bypass and put ur car into neutral and it die ive been dealing with it for a while.

ive had the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets changed btw.

and my check engine light is not on! it came on the other night but when off the next day when i started it.

also when i start it cold it idols up and down from 800-1200 rpms pretty quickly almost like its cammed.

thank you guys!

I'm thinking throttle body issue. Had very similar issues and ended having to replace the throttle body assembly.

except the replacing of the throttle body

i had the same problem with my car shutting off while the clutch was in, the rpms died and it just turned off... it could be a number of things but i personally think it is the throttle body needing cleaning, especially if it hasn't been done with that kind of mileage, check this threads out, clean the throttle body (just be careful with not touching the butterfly) and go from there, this is the cheapest way to start to diagnose the problem (~$3 crc throttle body cleaner from a local autozone) and a clean throttle body doesn't exactly hurt...
here are some thread links about the 5.5 gen throttle body cleaning
hope this helps

Definitely worth trying to clean the throttle body first. Unfortunately I had my issue before the proper cleaning method was posted. Good luck.
