WHere to find a used 2k 5-speed tranny?

Mines definitely on its way out. So I need to start looking. Ive hit the fs section here, as well as car-part.com, but I cant bring myself to pay $800 or more for a 150k + transmission. I'll be replacing the clutch and maybe flywheel too it it needs to be, so I need to try and keep the cost of the tranny down, since its going to have to be shipped adding a couple hundred more to the cost. I know I'm not the first guy to have to deal with this!

your local junkyard is the best location to look for a low mileage tranny if your trying to keep the cost down, not sure of cost but shouldnt be too much good luck

I believe the same 5 speed was used in 4th gens as well. I would call some reputable transmission shops around your area to see how much it would cost to have yours overhauled if you can't find a replacement.

Yeah, odd area, out here the tranny can go for like 600 or less with 60k or less on them.....you should check a little further out maybe a place can ship it to you for not that much money...Good Luck...

I think it is the same, but I'm still trying to find out for sure, since they can be had for a bit less. If anyone has some input, feel free to chime in.....

How much they looking for the LSD^^?

+1 to car-part.com....found on on there and had it shipped to my dads shop in CT from PA and it was 550 with 100K on it...also had the same exact symptoms you had, except mine locked up in second gear, though first and second were getting hard to shift into.

It'll be cheaper and more beneficial to do a 6mt, just sayin'.

Only way I can forsee a 5MT > 6MT is if you're under a time crunch and can't spend the time it takes collecting parts and day or two of fab work....
