Hey Guys,

The wifes 01 sound like crap, it sounds like its leaking by the exhaust manifold in back, I am not 100 percent sure but I wanted to ask how hard they are to replace? I also wanted to take the front manifold off anyways to replace that coolant plug since it was leaking before. I tightened it but I would like to use a sealer or buy a new plug for it.

I am going to take a closer look when I get some time before I start taking stuff apart, I also suspect it could be the EGR valve since I am throwing an EGR Code. Does anyone have a detailed picture of where the EGR is located?

It's like a header job, so, yeah, not fun removing the pre-cats at all, especially on a 10 year old car.

Yes they do. 02-03's do not, or rather it's internal vs external.

Well, I searched in the FSM and it doesn't show an EGR. I know that some cars got it but I don't see it in my car or in the FSM. I only can see a pipe that looks as the EGR but it's somekind of support for the TB.

Is the FSM online? I used to have a link but I cant find it. Maybe its not called an EGR and that is why it't not listed? I just want to fix my car man.

You are awesome, thank you!

Is there any type of write up for the 2000-2001? I found a great one in the 4th gen forum a while back but I cant find anything on the 2000-2001.

Makes sense, sorta... But it still needs to be there. The 02-03 do it via CVTC, how does the 01 do eet?

I don't know but I found something interesting in our VQ30DE-K yesterday when I changed the gaskets in the valve covers and intake manifold.

Intake manifold in place

Intake manifold removed

Check the place where the TB it's placed (near of the rear Valve cover). Did you notice a small amount of oil over the metal plate with the shape of a triangle? Well, in the intake manifold just after the TB we have a hole... Yes, a damn hole with a gasket that leads to that metal plate! Why it's that hole there? I don't know but it's interesting. Maybe it was designed to be connected to something but Nissan's engineers doesn't put it.

The exhaust gasket are Stainless Steel and are bulletproof....and don't just start leaking more than likely it's your EGR gasket since they are part of the UIM and held together with 2 long bolts...
