P420, P430, and P1320

Okay, sorry for the long post but this is driving me crazy. I have had my SES light on and off now for about 6 to 7 months. First I was getting the P420 and P430 code, but now I am getting those plus P1320. I keep resetting my ECU but they keep coming back and now my car is starting to hesitate but no SES flashing.

I checked all the coils and they are fine, the MAF sensor was replaced about 30k ago, and my plugs have about 15k on them.

Here is my plan for Columbus Day weekend, I am going to gut the pre cats, clean the MAF, change the fuel filter, change the plugs, and any other suggestions you guys might have.

I am going to use the non-foulers for the O2 sensors, but if I pull the main cat off and it is all clogged, can I gut it or should I get a test pipe (live in VA so need to take off for inspection), Also would I need a non-fouler for the O2 after the main cat?

The p1320 could be due to poor voltage. Have you used a voltage tester? And the other codes are definitely cat related. You could do a high flow cat or a test pipe. Me personally i care too much for the enviornment lmao

No, where would I test the voltage? I did read that the p1320 code could also be one of the plugs on the coils.

I've had the 1320 code now for a long time. I've even heard that the crank sensors can cause it.

Yeah, I just ordered the test pipe from an fellow org member. Do I have to use an non-fouler after the test pipe?

No, there are no O2 sensors after the main cat/test pipe. You will need the non-foulers on the pair of downstream O2's which on the 5.5 gen are both on the y-pipe and I'm assuming the same goes for the 5th gen.

So on the way home today I got the flashing SES light, pulled the code and it was P0305, which is a cylinder #5 misfire. Could this have caused the P1320 code as well?

Yes indeed; in most cases usually you only get P1320. Since you have the P0305, you are lucky. Hopefully, it is simple like coil or spark plug for that cylinder.

If you can get OEM coil either via a dealer or mail-order or ebay, you would not have to go through this again.

Okay so after some research, I found this:

http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB02-051a.pdf
http://nissanhelp.com/diy/maxima/pro...tification.htm

They both say I do have a O2 sensor after the main cat. Do I need a non-fouler for that O2?

That chances of your Maxima being Fed spec are very very low. It is most likely going to be Cali spec.

Thanks man, you were right started working on this today. All the bolts on my main cat are rusted to ****. I have heated them up, loaded them with PB blaster, and still can't get them to move. Any suggestions?

So I changed my plugs, fuel filter, coil, oil, and cleaned my MAF. When I changed my plugs I noticed alot of oil in the cylinder with the bad coil, this is the second time this has happened. Could this be from the bad coil, or from the spark plug gromments? Should I replace the gromments and the VC gasket? I have read about the 5.5 gen problem and having to replace the VC. Please Help!!!!

did you put all the piping to the vias back correctly? I know if you have a cali spec there are 3 hoses that go into the vias assembly, federal spec just has 2, just a thought.

Thanks for the help man, Yeah I got three connected. I will try to post pics maybe I have hose hooked up wrong. I have no idea whats wrong, car runs fine, no noticable difference. Is there a fuse for the sensor? I haven't check that yet.
