Which way does my dip stick go in- is it upside down?

I know it's a silly question but it does matter because my dipstick on my 2001 Anniversary Edition can go in so that the handle is oriented UP (more vertically- towards the firewall) or it can go in the other way so that it is oriented more down (or pointed more towards the radiator). I get different readings on the dipstick accordingly so I need to know.

Thanks!

When inserted, the dipstick handle should be angled somewhat upward, like an erection.

Does that help?

You must insert the dip stick at angle that best stimulates the release of fluid on it. You can test this by taking the dip stick back out and checking for lubricantion left on it.

In fact, you may have to take it out and put it back in several times to get the desired results.

It's pretty straight-forward. You can find the instructions on the back of any box of condoms.

Treat your car as you treat your girlfriend to get the desired results

When you pull out your dipstick to check the oil level, and it makes loud, wet, farting noises, then you're doing it right.

I'd treat your car to a wash or something before putting the dipstick in..

Now that the wife and kids have gone to bed, I think I need to go out to the garage and check my oil.

It is quite an epic quote, and it will go down in Maxima.org history.

Hmmmmm

When I saw the title to this thread, I thought certainly this person isn't actually trying to put the dipstick in "upside down". And, of course, they weren't.

Now, after reading the remaining posts, I can say for sure, we have some seriously sexually repressed members. That or we spend way too much time working on our rides. I meant the cars, get your minds out of the gutter.

This might be one of the funniest thread on any car forum that I've ever read.

That's indicative of a problem with a "loose seal." I recommend replacing the seal or finding a tighter seal as your dipstick certainly won't be growing to fit the seal appropriately...
