Headers?

Anyone seen, used or heard of these they are dirt cheap. Was wondering if they would work any opinions?

I am no pro but from what I hear(read) those are shortys. Basically just gutting your cats and getting y pipe would be the same. All the other ones give better results due to the long tube design. Get a warpspeed Y pipe and gut your cats. Thats on my "todo" list. Unless I fall over some long tube headers somewhere

I personally wouldn't waste my time installing shorty headers. Going through all that trouble for minimal gains just doesn't seem like a good use of time/effort/money. If you're just looking to replace some busted stockers and don't really care about the power gains, then those are a cheap alternative I guess, but you could always find some used stock headers for even less on the Classifieds forums.

And there's always the gutting factor.

From what I have read and heard from credible sources is that gutting your cats will net some gain but not nearly as much as you would think. The huge open chamber you now create inside the cat will cause a lot of turbulence with the exhaust gases. At least with the shorties the turbulence will not exists and one would think there would be minimal metal flaws. (I know the stock headers have casting marks everywhere.) It all depends on what you want to spend. Personally, I agree with everyone else. If you are going to be in there replacing the headers then just get full headers w/ y-pipe. The OBX's for the 3.5 (equal length y-pipe) will be available again in early November and I sourced them for about 330 shipped.

Agreed just wait on OBXs, and even though Stainless they will change color in due time, unless you get them Coated.....

Yep I'll be waiting for those also

fishtale6spd:
The headers for the 5th gen on custommaxima.com they don't have. I tried to ask about it a while ago and they didn't have them at all. The fitment doesn't go on our cars. I had to order something else cause they didn't have them. Best thing to do is wait for OBX.

You wont make as much as header's im sure but gutting them makes a definite power increase..especially with a test pipe and a 3' catback..My car woke right up after gutting the pre cats, more so in the higher rpm's though

I called obx directly. They don't have the 02-03 maxima headers. They are currently in production overseas and are due to be done at the end of this month but they will be arriving via a container ship so god only knows how long that will take.

Not a group deal. I called many distributors and they were all out of stock and had no info on when more will come in. that is why I contacted obx directly to get the real story and eta. Let me find the site that had them the cheapest. Worst case is that ebay will have them again for about 350 shipped.

Get em on eBay, IMO, I hate to say it but the success rate for GDs around here is pretty low historically.
