se-r swap

I've been reading up, and I just bought an altima se-r engine to replace my blown engine. I've found random topics here an there but nothing really for this exact swap. I've got the general down, correct me if I am wrong on any of these

1. I do not have to swap oil pans because it a manual engine to my manual.
2. I do have to swap the knock sensor
3. I should swap over the crankshaft sensor
4. I have to swap over the intake manifold from my 5.5?

aside from that it should all be plug and play, if I have done my research correct..

I'm pretty sure it is the exact same motor.

It's the same engine that is in the A34, so your 5.5 IM will need to be used for EGR reasons, other than that, it's a direct swap.

Use all your sensors and harnesses.

Don't let the SE-R hype fool you, you wont be gaining anything from it, aside from bragging rights.

Just like the SE-R brakes, all you get that's different than the SE-R logo on it are, A34 brakes.

I was in the process of demodifying my car and the stock precats that I bought self-destructed which pretty much did my motor in..

Cool good to see I was right... I'm wasn't really expecting any gains from it, I just got it for a cheaper than a 6th gen engine, with very little miles..

At first, I was having an early morning brain fizzle, and thought you wanted to put a QR25 in your car.

My bad

Swap your upper oil pan over to prevent any headaches. Better safe than sorry. Swapping oil pans after the motor is in the car on your back isn't the most fun thing to do.

Wait so I have to swap the upper and lower oil pan? Because I was under the assumption tat since both engines are manuals I didn't have to swap them...

Not swapping anything, but replacing.

He's advising you to change the upper while it is out of the car, whether it's faulty or not because it is much easier, and it is cheap insurance.

This...

I always swap out oil pans when swapping in a motor with a different ECU/from a different generation. Just peace of mind that the OEM sensors will be getting the same signals. I prefer not to modify, grind, shave or splice wires if I don't have too. Not saying you WILL have to. I'm just saying that it's better to do it a way that you KNOW will work the first time, versus trying something and risking having to pull everything down again becuase the ECU is reading the wrong signals.

Always remember, even though the VQ35s from 02-08 are essentially the same, there are a ton of differences other than just EGR and motor mounts and a couple sensors. For instance, when swapping 3.0 timing onto a 3.5 using an 02-03 motor, you can just slap on the cam adapters and call it a day. If your using an 04+ motor though, dont forget to drill that hole in the cam sproket (terminology check?) or you'll have to pull that timing cover off again.
