Leaking Headlight Assembly: Replacement
Leaking Headlight Assembly: Replacement
Hi All,
I washed the Maxima today and found a leak had occurred inside my passenger side headlamp. I removed the headlamp to dry it out but cannot find the leak after pouring some water around the edges. It is definitely entering the top as there was a single water droplet over the top of the high beam lamp.
So, I am looking at replacing the assembly but the OEM cost is $800. This seems really high, but I don't want to replace with a knock off as this will surely happen again (but much sooner). Where is can I get a good price on an OEM headlamp assembly?

I wish this was a 2001! Nissan only seems to sell these as a complete set, I can't imagine the price is $800 w/o ballast.
Has anyone tried the 1Aauto headlights? How is the quality of them, and do they produce the same amount of light as the oem versions? Looking for info specifically on the 2000-2001 models but if you have experience with other years that would be helpful too
They look to be the same as the Depo brand. After market headlamp assembly with Phillips ballast. At least they have a 3 year warranty.

This is the ones they have for 2002, but the price is now $499.95.
why won't you just reseal yours and be done with it?
there are a lot of write ups on how to bake open your headlights. You can also run a bead of caulk on the outer perimeter first and see if that works before going the bake route.
I would also caulk around the tabs as they do crack over time around the housing from stress and might let water in.
Finally, make sure your breather tube is not clogged by spider webbing, that will make your headlights condense water on the inside of the lens if its clogged or blocked.

Just run a bead of silicone around the housing where the lens and housing join and save yourself $794.00
Beside the breather tube, check closely for any cracks or that your rear covers or on properly.
