Yeah, Tuner is a pretty smart cookie. Would that I were more like him when I was his age. Except for the whole Canadian thing.

I don't know how old he is. Probably much younger than you or I. But nevertheless he's an intelligent guy, seems well grounded, and responsible. All too scarce personality traits today, not to mention a good person to converse with online. Which I can also say about a majority of the people I've met here as well. As for the Canadian thing, I can overlook that!

Awwww, *tear

Thanks guys I love you to

I'm 25 Pezz.

I don't know how smart I am, I may have my shining moments, but the year round toque really cuts off circulation

It's not all bad up here though

It's all good, I'm sure Rochester would concur. The only thing I have a little problem getting past is the 'Ooot & Aboot' accent and Zed for 0 thing. How Shatner got over that is amazing.
If I remember correctly Bob & Doug McKenzie used to put on their "Thinking Toque's" when figuring out stuff. You're not a 'hoser' so probably wear your thinking toque all the time...Eh?
I dated a few "Canuck" girls in the past. All I can say is Mon Dieu, très sexy!

In my experience, you did the best thing in selling the car and getting something different. I think that no matter how much you changed about your Maxima, after a little time, the things that irritate you are going to come to the forefront again.

I have watched several friends go through stuff like this with houses and cars both. As an example, a good friend of mine was telling me for the longest time that he and his wife wanted a new house. They looked at houses frequently, and thought about it alot when they weren't looking. Eventually, they said "we've just decided to remodel this house." So they spent a few months and alot of money remodelling. Within about a month of completing the remodel he was telling me that they wanted a new house. So they ended up in a different house anyway, and many of their remodel $ just went to helping the house sell faster, not recouping the money.

Good luck with the new G.

I changed my screen name long, long before I got my G. In fact, I think it was before I got my 6MT Max.

I don't even want to know how long it took you to make that rainbow of text.

Anyway, back OT.

Sorry, been away for three weeks so playing catchup.

A stillen/jwt pop charger and the moterdyne spacer will net you 245 at the wheels.

And good luck with the LED project on the dash. I did it for one g35 and i will never do it again. the orange is embedded in the overlay and has to be sanded off. So you have to remove the needles. They don't go back on properly. Trying to get the tach and the speedo to work on that damn car took almost 2 months of back and forth trial and error and the guy is still unhappy. I gave up on it. He's pissed, but at least i tried.

There's a guide on, I think, my350z on properly uninstalling the needles, and making sure they're re-calibrated properly when you put the cluster back together.

I have the cheaper 03/04 gauge cluster, so I'm hoping I don't have to bother with all that. The 05/06 cluster is actually really, really nice, all stock SMD lighting.

OAN I've decided to try going with an RGB setup in this car, meaning, I'll be able to control the illumination colour to pretty much whatever I want

If it works, anyways, it's not simple obviously

RGB setup like the Mustangs have in them? That's nifty.

Let me know if you can figure it out. I've always thought that would be cool.

FWIW, if you'd be interested in another path, there's a member over on G35driver who actually swapped a G37 cluster into his G35. I don't remember who, but it looked good.

I'm going to give this RGB a go, I have been searching for a while and haven't found anyone who's done it in any car, I'm sure I'm not the first, but I can't find anyone else who's done it.

Found a few that did the gauge cluster, and lots that just did the footwell lighting/added lights, but no one that integrated EVERYTHING.

Should be a fun project.....

Good luck with it. I'm sure it'll turn out top-notch, just like all of the other projects I've seen you post on here.

I know the color-changing LEDs are not very cheap.

How are you going to go about setting it up?

The cost of the RGB SMD's aren't too bad. I purchased some pigtail connectors, 4 wire colour coded wire, a RF controller for the whole system, and a 5 meter reel of 5050 RGB SMD strip that can be cut every 3 SMD's, I'm hoping to use the strips for the vast majority of the work, it'll make it easier.

The window switches and audio unit will likely prove the biggest challenges, because I cant use the circuit board power and that's how they mount.... I don't know how I'm going to do that yet. Also, running 4 wires from each SMD in there is going to be pretty much impossible. I figure it's worth a shot, even if I don't get EVERYTHING runnig on it.

i already know I cant get the HVAC and compass display on it because it's LCD, unless it's backlit LCD which I doubt.

I'm not totally sure how the compass is lit.

I DO know that someone on G-driver managed to pull the orange filter off and replace it with a red one...but that's about it.

Update Dec 22/11

K, I'm dumb.....

Already have Nismo side skirts here:

(start the flame cannon) My neighbour pretty much gave me a pair of Vertical Door hinges, so I will pop the fenders off and see what it takes to put them on, I actually think it'd be kind of cool but don't know. Either way I want to try them and see:

I have 05/06 Tail lights on the way

And the "piece du resistance" (whatever that means), I have 3 offers out on Superchargers..... Two V2, and one V3. Both would require some injectors, fuel controllers, etc, etc if I want to run more than 5-6 PSI. I'd probably only run that anyways, but I want to keep decent fuel mileage so I'll NEED controllers of some sort.....

I'm ****ing nuts....

after monitoring the thread for a few days and keeping my mouth shut. I will open up and say yes indeed you are nuts for undertaking a new project and giving up that beautiful max you had there....but in a good way that we all are with our cars. We will all spend a week and a hundred dollars on a mod that will probably go unnoticed to occupants. Are you going to part with the wheels/tires?

TunerMax now has:

1) IRS
2) RWD
3) 6 Forward gears

Need I say more?

Next project I heard is making it into a 8cyl....The IRS is really cool though. I don't know why they did away with it after the 3rd gen. All ive found is "it was cheaper".

Pretty much.

Swapping out the IRS for a solid rear beam on the 4th/5th gen was a way for Nissan to save money. Which, when you think about it, passes the savings on to the consumer.

Im sure some will say they can tell the difference but unless your on the track? a solid rear axel with a good coil-over set up on it is more than adequate IMHO

Oh, no, trust me. You CAN tell the difference, believe it or not.

My Maxima with a full suspension setup (RSB, FSTB, coilovers, etc.) barely handled as well as my stock G does.

Cars with IRS feel much more stable in high-speed situations, such as sweeping corners on on and off-ramps on the interstate.

I suppose at high speeds you are correct. At high speeds, for some reason, the 4th gen seems so much more stable than the 5th gen. Right at 100mph the 5th gen gets dangerously floaty. Ive never got that feeling in my 4th

Sorry, got to disagree on this. It depends on the IRS design, and it's a lot easier to screw it up than get it right. There's a LOT of evil handling cars with IRS out there. I.E. The 91 Camry V6 I owned had IRS and all the OEM sport suspension goodies RSB, bigger struts, FSB, brakes, wheels & etc. That car had moderate understeer and felt OK close to the limit. But would snap oversteer without warning on ramps etc. The Maxima sticks much better than the Camry ever did and gives plenty of warning before doing anything that bad.

DW 600cc injectors, walbro 255lph or the new aeromotive pump, and an uprev tune.

IMO, the front suspension is the biggest thing lacking on the Maxima. While the rear suspension is less than adequate for some of us, the front is where all of us would benefit from a different design.

I have sat down and thought this over and, as much as I really, really, really want to just pull the trigger on the SC kit, I can't justify it. The car is already plenty fast, I don't have enough supporting mods yet, I need a Throwout bearing, and for $2500-3500 I can do some pretty incredible things to this car, primarily, addressing it's overall ugly exterior, as well as some Preventative Maintenence stuff, prepping the car for future boost.

Ugh I want to boost!!!! I need to chill though...

You got the hardware for free, and you're a skilled mechanic who can likely undo any mistakes you make. So with that in mind, I say go for it.

There. Merry Christmas.
