Spark plugs..which one do YOU guys recommend
I have 171k on my maxima...other day i changed the oil and decided to check the plugs...and they are gone.
Which ones have you guys used, and what are the best for performance/mileage and interval.
I think i will get the laser iridium as that is OEM. But, what do you guys think ?
Thanks

I have about 20K or more on the E3's in my car. They were cheaper than getting the NGK Iridium's so I thought I'd give them a shot. So far so good, but I'd like to get more mileage on them before I give them an official thumbs up or thumbs down.

The general consensus on my local site is "All of the "real life examples" always involved american cars. I'm not convinced they'd provide the same gains on a VQ".
I say stay with the proven spark plug for the VQ engines NGK Iridium's (LFR5AIX-11)

ngk for brand....
copper gives you stronger spark but less life.... but at 2 dollars a plug who cares....
Platinum gives a decent spark and a much longer life span...... more expensive for the set
iridium sparks better than platinum and lasts just as long.... even more expensive than the platinum

I'm curious about the kind of spark plugs that our cars need.
The FSM recommends the Platinum spark plug but another ones says that we can use the cooper type. The former owner of my car put cooper spark plugs (NGK brand) in her but I don't know how much millage they get and I know that this spark plugs last around 10,000 Kms (6200 miles) affecting the performance and fuel efficiency when the cooper ones begins to wear-out.
Maybe I'll go by the Platinum type even when they cost a little more.

re
Going to buy the laser platinum...since it seems like a recommended product. I am not sure what is in there right now..but it seems like they are shot. Acceleration and gas mileage have dropped like no other.

re
Just finished changing them out. It was a pain, but it didn't take me four hours, maybe 2.
After i started the car up, it seems like there a little rattling noise. ill make a vid. Idle is normal, smooth. Just a little raspiness when you accelerate. Seems like power is back. The old plugs were completely SHOT

$36 for 12 plugs for a period of 60,000 miles for copper plugs
$45 for 6 plugs for a period of 60,000 miles plus another 40,000 before change for Nissan recommended iridium plugs
Even if I'm doing the labor myself, an hour of my time is worth more than 9 bucks. Not to mention the additional items I risk having to replace by changing the plugs.
Waste of money? You decide.

$2.5 (Platinum) vs $2 (Cooper) = Bye bye cooper, Welcome back Platinum!
Also, I bought the Bosch ones. And before anyone say it... Yes, I know that NGK it's recommended but with a long history in all the family cars using Bosch spark plugs (and 4 of them being Nissan) without any problem and a good performance I just stick it with Bosch.

12mm socket
10mm socket
5/8 spark plug socket
8" extension
Needle nose pliers
Allen wrench to remove cover
Really easy I thought it was going to be horrible also but not to bad
