what size exhaust pipe to use? here is the answer

Sparks, please understand that my low rpm and low throttle movement has to do with throttle sensitvity and driveablility in the real world....No need to compare this to WOT situations, it's not the same! The Raceworld (your world) vs The Realworld (which most of us operate in 99% of the time) not for you though!....I've got plenty of info and there's nothing, I need too prove to you...All my statement deals with is the first few millimeters of accelerator movement isn't quiet as sensitive as on an OEM exhaust system, but once depressed 12mm or more everything flows better and the system is able to scavange better due to the increase in gas velocity thru the larger 3" cross sectional area...My ECU is stock and maybe for you things maybe different for you since you have a standalone or supplemental engine control control system (which 99% of people don't have)....anyway thanks for your normal response to me! Do understand that I'm aware that the 3" make alot more power and torque than a 2.5" exhaust...I don't have any disbelief in that at all...I have 3 exhaust systems on hand as we speak...1 OEM, 1 Cattman 2.5" and 1 Cattman 3"... Go build another intake for yourself dude...
Sprint booster + headers + 3" Catback exhaust =

Btw just tighten your throttle cable slightly tighter and WALLA sprint booster

That's what I want a little more power already got the Cattman Headers installed with Fastcat and JWT popcharger and NWP BOP and right now im loving it more power and better gas mileage, and getting the Spacers again and a lightweight pulley by the end of January ....

I'm not trying to pollute the post with sprint booster debates...just simply made a comment about how it helps throttle response. Thats all.

There are no throttle body cables to tighten on 5.5 gen Maximas because they are electronic TBs. They only make sprint boosters for DBW (Drive by wire) vehicles. No need to do that on cable throttle body cars. That was the whole point of the sprint booster, to give the car throttle response of a cable throttle body. The ECU limits how fast you reach WOT and the sensitivity of the accelerator....I believe the sprint booster amplifies the signal to get you to WOT faster.

No need to lock it...This thread is about that infamous Cattman 3" Catback! Enjoy it boys! Don't get me wrong guys I've had my 3"catback installed for close to 2yrs iirc....It's an awesome performing and sounding setup! I was just trying to let these guys hear other things along with the good parts! "THE LAW" inspired me to go 3" with the awesome/authoritive/ballsy exhaust note this monster emits and how this car moves when stepping into the throttle....The sound is refined and like no other on the market! I drove a 2.5" setup today on a 4th Gen and wow Cattman's catbacks are really several notches above the rest!

next year I will go with cattman 3" exhaust system, cant wait to have more horses and the sound of a mean machine lol

Cutout>any diameter catback
I beat another 6 speed last week from 40 to 120 before he started gainin and
My mods - cutout intake bop
him - full cattman headers intake catback bop
i had a strong pull on the hit clearly, and i dont have a buzzing v6 in my ears all day, just the cutout when it counts!
Wonder would i really get banned if i posted the video.

I was watching Gearz yesterday and here is what Stacey David said about exhaust pipes , if It's wrong or is a repost please let me know, thanks.
150hp 2" single pipe exhaust
250 - 350hp 2 1/2" single or dual exhaust
450+ hp 3" single or 2 1/2" dual exhaust
550+ hp 4" single or 3" dual exhaust
150hp 2" single pipe exhaust
250 - 350hp 2 1/2" single or dual exhaust
450+ hp 3" single or 2 1/2" dual exhaust
550+ hp 4" single or 3" dual exhaust
EDIT: and I read through the whole thread and retract my previous statement and gracefully leave now. Why is it the troll threads always suck me in!!!???

3" makes power on a decent bolt on 3.5L Maxima. Made power on mine, has for many others.
DId we think this was going to be the case? No, just like when we were 4th genners, we never though that the DEK manifold would fit, and when we used to think that headers didn't give more than 2-3 whp on those 4th gens.
The discovery of the 3" making more power was a lucky discovery in that the car in question was slated for a turbo kit. And was decided to hit the dyno before the turbo, but after the 3".
It showed a huge improvement, so, we all were then believers. Also, on the dual exhaust deal, I've seen a few cars do better with a single 3" vs 2-2.5". The fastest NA A34 has a single 3".
1.) More MAF flow (g/s) CHECK
2.) Dyno proven more whp CHECK
3.) Better track times CHECK
4.) Qulitatelvey better feeling, loss of traction vs with a 2.5" system CHECK
Oh ya, the people who have proven these statements also change their own spark plugs.
Anyway, carry on...and keep the child play to a minimum.
