Looking to come back to the Maxima family

Wife's 02 SE got totaled earlier this year, we replaced it with a G37S which she loves.

Now our old daily driver Corolla is probably getting replaced by an 01 GLE. Its for sale by a friend - its in nice shape and has 150k on it. No current needs, no damage. Its automatic, leather, 6CD. He was offered $2k by Carmax, but he went onto KBB who said $4800 (dream on?) I would think the car is worth about $3k - reasonable?

What areas should I be concerned about with that kind of mileage? Thinking about having a compression test done just to be sure the thing will hold together for a few years. Any other typical problem areas?

Probably should check the coils. And the MAF's usually fail (especially if you have 150k on the clock). Hopefully its already been replaced. 3k seems reasonable IMO

And hopefully welcome back!

If the radiator hasn't been replaced check around the edges for telltale signs of fluid leakage. Mine went at 120k and a friends went at 145k.

Check all your joints and bushings.

Ball joins, axles, sway bar bushings, etc...

Looking no more. Picked up the 2001 GLE and its off getting its blood transfused (brake fluid, trans fluid, coolant, oil). Front struts needed replacement and steering wheel radio switch is getting replaced...other than that, its good to go. Car has 150k and I am hoping to get at least 50k more out of it.

you can easily get 200K+ more out of that max if you keep it serviced
