Bad electronic motor mount?

I saw oil spots under my car and as I looked over the engine area, it looks as if my front motor mount is the thing that is leaking. The oil is a medium brown color, definitely not my dirty black engine oil.

Can anyone confirm that the electronic motor mounts are oil filled? I have never seen anything describing the make-up of these beasts. In the meantime I'm pulling a safety and un-plugging the thing.

Motor mounts break because of aging and use. The rubber is susceptible to dry rot from the constant changes in temperature in the engine compartment(see engine motor mounts). Often the mount might not look broken if it has leakage but it cannot do its job if there is no oil inside. But to check if the motor mount is damage, try checking the exhaust manifold or valve cover gaskets. For leaks check the head pipe that joins the manifold. If there is a leak this is a sign of a bad motor mount. This needs a replacement. The leakage often is a result of excessive engine rocking that causes engine pipe connection to loosen.

If anything, just switch to a non-electric motor mount. Cheaper and less hassle.
