Back In the MAXIMA game...SON

After a year of riding around in a 2007 Honda Accord (nice but not a Max) and also a 1998 Toyota Corolla (POS) I have finally gotten a Max. 2002 Se.

Hard to get Maximas out of your blood, isn't it? Nice pick-up!

However, I think I'd rather have my '04 5AT Accord V6 over my '02 4AT Maxima, but make it my 6MT Maxima and the choice is a lot tougher.

I know you would really take your auto max over your accord.
But my GF has 04 auto 4banger Accord and it drives really good. I love the handling, ride and steering feel of those Hondas. Prior to coilovers on my Max, her Accord would be much more settled over this 3 dip section on the highway. I imagine V6 would make it a much nicer drive because the 4cyl lack of power is the only thing I don't like about her car, besides the big bubble butt (good thing she has a spoiler which helps looks)

NICE pick up Maximaboy12. Just ditch that moon roof visor. Any mods planned?

Yeah Maxima has been in the Blood I guess. The 1st Max I got was a 95 with like 197k and I wrecked at like 207k and then I drove a 2007 Accord EX-L and sold it for some good money and went to a 98 Corolla (Major POS) but thankful for the car that I had. And then not even a week ago I bought My car. Yeah 6mt>5at idk but ive just never gotten along with hondas.

All I could find were 4AT 5.5 gens after I wrecked my 6MT. Already had a 4AT 5.5 gen and while they do have excellent torque in the midrange, the top end charge of the J30 is pretty nice too. As far as acceleration, they are pretty similar (using premium in the Accord, worth about 10 hp according to the lead engineer on the 7th gen design) since horsepower is similar, what the Accord lacks in torque compared to the VQ35 is helped out by the extra gear. Plus, I bought the Accord from my Dad for the payout on my 6MT and it only had 75k miles on it.

But compared to my 6MT, it definitely doesn't pull as hard. If the right 6MT comes along, I'd be very tempted to sell the Accord, buy the 6MT and pocket the difference. Almost pulled the trigger on an '04 6MT G35 sedan with 72k miles for $12k (about what my Accord would go for to a private party), but someone had already put a deposit down on it to buy the car and was supposed to pick it up in a day or two.

Now why would a SE with Frost Cloth seats have black plastics? My '03 has a Frost Cloth interior, and the dash/door plastics are matching color (but with a black leather steering wheel, naturally.)

I wonder if that's a difference between 2002 and 2003. That would be a odd little bit of arcane Maxima info. Unless that's not actually Frost Cloth, and it's the sun playing tricks on the exposure.

I think its the sun playing tricks cuz the interior is black. Love it btw hides stains, imperfections etc well.

I would say a NWP BOP like 10 bucks and the NWP Economy Spacers like $135....Spacers are the best Bang for your Buck for the 5.5....

Mine has every option, including factory nav. Even have the original window sticker and every single receipt connected to the car.

Only repair so far was to fix the cold start power steering moan. Searched a Honda forum, found there was a TSB, turned out all I needed to do was remove 1 bolt and replace a 96 cent O-ring.

hard to say if the economy spacers are "the" best bang for the buck( no doubt they would be great), But Full 5 piece Set is for sure

IM spacers for sure if u don't mind doing some work. But well worth it. Get the VIAS delete plate it's easy enough to install and cheap. And get a jwt pop or some kind sri. And then u get to enjoy the 3.5 how it should have came from the factory.

That's what I just got the 5pc Economy set for 135 and the 3pc is a 100 same 10hp and 12tq. I had the normal 5pc for 225 on the other Max which was totaled and lost with the Premium BOP, but this time was trying to budget it regular BOP and Economy Spacers 145 instead of my previous 285 for same power...

Well I did all the maintenance at home and kept every receipt so I guess you could say that I had all the service records . I got mine as a repo from a bank auction it was too good to pass up it had around 50k and I got it for about $15 g's. I never had to fix anything in that Accord if theres one thing I love about Hondas is low maintenance not only Hondas but all Japanese cars.....one reason I didnt get a BMW or such. And the Parts for Nissans is cheap unlike bmw

where are you getting this info that they are the same power?? u sure?
i was under the impression the 2 LIM spacers surprizingly have about 30% of the power of the 5 pc Kit even though they are only 1/16" thick. I know alot about this because I bought the 5pc kit, and my tech didnt install the 2 LIM pcs. So I essentially have the 3 pc kit installed at the moment.

Really can't complain about Nissan reliability. In the 4 years I owned 5.5 gen Maximas, I spent less on repairs than I did the last 4 months I owned my Mazda 626 ES-V6.

No not at all! I had a 4th gen 207k before and the only thing it needed was o2 sensor. There was not one BMW that I saw with the same mileage like my max that didnt need some major repairs......maybe a couple but with too big of a price tags. Am I say Germans arent nice no not at all......am I saying that I would take a Used Max over a BMW. (I says that cuz I know that someones gonna come in here and say I hate Germans) One of my family members had that car.....total **** IMO.....I lost count of how many things it needed.
