Tester Needed!!

Hi everyone

As the title states. I am in need of a 5th gen maxima to test out a rear brace that i have created. The brace will be located in the trunk area of the car. This brace has been confirmed to fit the 7th gen maxima and 07-11 altima four door and coupe models. I briefly held the brace into place on a 5th gen maxima and it looks very promising that the brace will also fit the 5th gens as well. As with all my products hardware is included.

If your intrested in this project please contact me via pm on the details concerning this offer

pictures of the brace installed

the rear brace location for the 5th gen is much higher than what it is for the 09 maxima as shown in the picture

Thanks

Cory

the rear upper framing of the trunk location. This will tie in the rear left and right section of the entire car due to the rear brace. its a mod that the wrx , 6th gen maxima and other after market car part makers use.

No damage to the interior will come from installing the brace. I would not release a product that would do so

I'm willing help you out. Kind of curious how it will fit with my amp on the back of my seat and how it will change the feel of the car.

Easier to install than an actual RSTB, I'm sure. Crawling around in the trunk and getting the right leverage on the rear strut bolts is a PITA. And since the RSTB is a minimal handling mod anyway, I could see going this route instead.

Keep us posted on the progress of this product. Any idea as to the projected cost?

I just hope this doesn't cost more than $20..... That's about as basic as it gets.

With it being secured only by 1 bolt each side, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a RSTB? The rear could still flex left to right at the bolts pivot point. Seems like it would be more beneficial for there to be two mounting bolts on each side (if that's even possible) to keep the structure more rigid.

^ Good point, I'm sure it'll still add quite a bit of rigidity. I just can't see spending more than $20 on it because you can make this with a drill and a length of tube, and a vice.

I see that there needs to be more appeal to market this to the 5th gen section. I will look at adding more of a cross member design than this current design.

The bar is actually hydrolic pressed on a 30 ton machine as this is cold rolled steel. The supplies and shipping alone cost more than $20.00.

Thanks for all the comments as they are helpful

I've gotta hand it to you Cory. You've got ***** for coming back to the 5th gen'ers with a new product. Good luck and I hope it proves to be a beneficial mod.

Give it a chance, the maxima market of aftermarket parts is already so limited. Who knows what CXJ could make for maximas later on.

Would that be the wishbone connector idea from nismopc?

Thanks Hmax

So
I also have revised the rear brace. Its has been given a make over for looks which i think makes it a much sexier piece now

The bar has been wrapped in black carbon fiber 3d vinyl. I should have gone this way from the start. I am also thinking of adding color options of silver , red , blue , and default black. As these will become special request i ask that you allow a few more days for delivery on the brace. I will always keep in constant contact with my customers so rest assure that your in good hands while doing business with me

heres a update picture. i will release additional install pictures in this thread very soon

Looks interesting. I personally probably won't run one because of my amps/sub being there.

Looks sharp! The 3M really sets it off...

Any luck on extra support other than single bolts? Been a while since I tore out the back seats so I can not recall what all is available to bolt to in the 5th gen.

The carbon fiber vinyl wrap is very attractive. Well done.

What are your thoughts on the recommendation for a wishbone design on the end connectors?

I have thoughts about a X type of design. That would consist of 2 of the same type of bars as shown but the centers would have to be flatten with a bolt to connect both members. I know this can be done but its the cost factor that i believe most are not willing to pay. I would have to sell a design like mentioned somewhere around $140-160.

My good friend whos member name is KcMaxx currently makes the rsb for the 6th gen maximas. What his customers have done were to install two of the same type of rear brace bars as what i have shown. They mount the brace bars in the upper and lower sections of the trunk location.

Pictures

But most have installed just one of the brace bars and been done.

hopes this helps

Cory

The only problem i see with going with installing two brace bars are that the 5th gens only have one clean mounting points. Adding additional braces or a X type will require some cutting of the plastic trim

I have highlighted where the brace i have design will mount to. This will be clean without any damage done to the car

Seems to me the lower you mount that closer to the struts, the better. But really, I have no engineering expertise to say one way or the other, just guesswork. $160 for a cross-brace design? Might as well purchase a proper RSTB.

Here's a picture of my Stillen rear brace for comparison.
