CF Hood FTW!
So i saw a craigslist add for Cf hood, oem style for the 5th gen maxima for $175. Since mine was dented in the front i decided to call them up to see whats up. Apparently the site they sold the hoods wholesale to, closed down and they had a couple lying around collecting dust. So i went, was blown away by what i saw, and picked one up =D! MSRP for this brand is :$800! WIN!

I forgot, but I can lift it with one hand easy so its light for me. It's not even the flimsy kind that needs the good locks. The shop had a show car there with the same cf hood for his show car. A twin turbo miata slammed on D2's. I wish I took a picture :'(

Sorry, but any CF hood will need hood pins/latches. Anyone who runs without them is asking for trouble.

I think another org member and his friends scooped up the rest lol
Sadly I don't believe so he had only 4 left. I'm trying to get it on tonight if I do I will put up pics.
he told me the brand, I forgot though. I will find out and let you guys know. I wish I had money to do that now "/ I plan to paint the whole car over including the hood to make it look stock :3 "sleeper hood" lol
I mean Ur right, I was gonna put locks on anyway at some point just as a secondary precaution. But the owner was explaining these are a sturdy build and not the flimsy paper thin hoods that flop around. Him and his son have the same brand on their cars going on 7 years and they never had problems and they don't use the locks. He also said dont let the hoods stay in direct sunlight for long.
And yeah I have heard stories

Thanks man, like I said previous owner said a delivery truck backed up on the hood and it looked hideous . I really lucked out as this car has been giving me some bad luck lol. But the guys said this brand goes for 800, I was blown away!

That's SWEEET man insane price. Best CF hood I always thought was VIS for the Maxima, and they retail around $500-700. Never 800. If it's VIS, you stole that thing.
Clearcoat is a great idea. It'll be ok for a year without it but I recommend getting it done to preserve it. VIS does a good job initially so they last longer than most.

Not a chance you jive turkey
Although they do sell vis its not its a popular brand they sell for other cars. but like i said he told me they go for 800 and i can see why, its oem fitment its perfect fit, its super light and looks awesome. he has the same brand cf hood on his car for almost 7 years and it looks brand new, but if money permits i will do a clear coat on it over the summer. i have a tarp in the backyard so summer time my car will definitely be sitting under the shade =D

good lookin soul brotha! i was hoping he had some left over 4th gen hoods, but no dice =/. They were suppliers for custommaxima.com but he said the site went down or went out of business so they were left with what they had.

****tttttt I would've taken one of each lol Thanks for checking for me though.

What purpose do these hood latches serve? Can't I use the ones I have now? And trust me I intend to do it summer time. I will take a pic of the old hood and show you how bad it is.

The stock one isn't strong enough. Without additional latches, it'll probably flip up into the windshield on ya.

you guys are all definitely right, so i will hold off on the install. I got more maintenance that requires attention, and payments on a bbk with my name on it

I fabbed up a custom bracket on mine to put them in a more appealing location (only got the one side done on my old 4th gen)

Yes you have to cut the hood. They come with templates. Not as easy as cheap hood pins but well worth it IMO, I didn't want pins at all, but after a week of driving without them, and a lot of adjusting on the OEM latch, I knew I needed them.
