So my brake/head light warning light comes on when I hit the brakes...

...so I figured since it only comes on when I hit the brake pedal it was a brake light. I went to wal-mart and came home to replace the tail light bulbs. Replaced them and started the car up and hit the brake pedal. Both brake and running lights work properly but the warning light on the dash still comes on when I hit the brake pedal.

All my lights work, head lights, high beams, turn signals (all 4), rear marker lights. Only lights I don't know if they work or not is my reverse lights. Can a reverse light make this warning light come on? What else could it be?

This isn't the emergency brake light thought.

^Correct.

your brake fluid is low. Check for leaks, and top up. If there's no leaks, your brakes are getting very low and in need of replacement likely.

They call it a Stop/Tail Warning light.

Manual says - If the light comes on with the engine running when the light switch is on or the brake pedal is depressed one or more stop/tail light bulbs are burned out.

Did you even look at the photo I uploaded?

I haven't either. I also thought it may be the brake light switch but then my brake light wouldn't work if that wasn't working properly.

Yeah thats the lamp out light. Mine came on and a couple days later my driver side brake light failed. Give it some time and see if anything changes. People get too excited and post as soon as a light comes on.

I already did that. All lights work properly.

I did replace both brake lights since I bought two bulbs (one pack). One of the bulbs looked like it was bad.

Ahhh! Good thinking!

Someone added the spoiler to the car and it has a light in the spoiler and in the rear window. The one in the rear windows isn't working. My gf said all lights worked and when I asked about the 3rd brake light she said she saw the on ein the spoiler only.

All I could find in the fsm. It monitors the two brake lamps and spoiler or 3rd brake lamp depending on what your setup is. I would get a resistor to simulate that 3rd brake light so you dont have a spoiler and deck brake lamp

thanks man!

I already was thinking about that. I was going to unplug the one in the rear window but hadn't got around to it. I'll just figure out what resistor to use and put it in.

Happened to me too since I originally didn't have a spoiler. If you have a brake light out than the dummy light will stay on all the time. If you have a third brake light out it will only come on when you brake because that's the only time that bulb illuminates.

I just put LED replacements in. Does that cause the warning light on the dash to stay on?

Get someone to step on the brake pedal while you go in back of the car and see which light (or lights) are out. Then replace them.

Yes. LEDs don't have a resistance so the computer thinks it's burnt out. That's why you install an inline resistor
