After bose install stereo problem (paragraph)

Alright so this has been going on for quite sometime and I've decided to finally ask and see whats up. I was having cd issuses with my stock bose 6 disk so I went aftermarket. I bought a kenwood ddx 512, harness and everything else I needed. I was installing and ended up breaking one of the female connectors coming from the car so I had a ton of wires and had no clue where they went. After many happy fuses and hours I finally got it to work but, ever since my dash lights haven't worked, trip, temp button, shifter lights (on shifter), sounds no where near BOSE quality anymore and my heat/ac climate display only works when my headlights are OFF. So I figured I screwed up something with the install and temporarily went with it. But recently I got another plug from a member on here, spliced it and hooked it up but all the same problems still exist. One thing I did notice is that the BOSE unit had 3 plugs in the back and the aftermarket harness only has 2, so that 3rd plug from the car is just hanging. I don't know what that's for or anything but it doesn't seem to have bothered anybody else. Any ideas or help highly appreciated. Thanks, sorry for the graph

Replacement OEM harness.

When you go aftermarket you have to ground the brown/yellow wire on that third harness. Your trip/odo will work after you do this. It is ok for this third harness to hang loose after you go aftermarket.

As for everything else, sounds like you just need to very carefully redo everything, go back fully to OEM, confirm everything is working, THEN reinstall the aftermarket deck. Check ALL fuses, then double check, then triple check them.

Alright, thanks. I'll give that a try today I'll rewire the harness too but I think it's correct already. I'll check back in.

If you're using the stock BOSE speakers/AMP it's not enough to buy just an harness. You need to get a PAC adaptor which will allow you use the factory AMP. With out it, you're sending an amplified signal to the AMP and it won't sound good at all.

Depending on your head unit, you could get an adaptor for the steering wheel controls, but they tend to not work all that great (I have one, I don't use it all that much). Also as everyone mentioned, you need to ground the wires for the trip computer button to continue functioning.

Glad everything worked out.

Read this thread for more info about the preamp levels.

Not necessarily. All depends on how it's wired.
