Whine when turning (video inside)
Whine when turning (video inside)
Hello,
My car has been doing this whining sound when the wheels are turned and I press on the gas. The video below shows what it sounds like.
It only happens when i got my foot on the gas, even very slightly. If I take it off, nothing. It happens when the steering wheel is turned more than 1/3 of a turn (left or right).
Any idea what it could be?
I was thinking the differential? I replaced the tranny fluid and it hasn't improved any...

It doesn't sound like a power steering pump. My neighbor's 02 max needs a new PS pump, and the whine is very different.
My other two guesses would be a wheel bearing, or cv joint?
PS: The noise comes from the front of the car.

The car was lowered 6 months ago, but the sound started before I lowered it. It gradually became louder over a period of a month, and then leveled out. It's been loud like in the video for over a year now i'd say...
Yeah, the noise does sound kinda strange... Have you check the list below?
Front end noise?
Check these in this order...
Stabilizer link, Sway bar bushing, Strut mount, Strut, Tie rod/ball joint (based on 3-9 or 6-12 tests), Motor Mounts
If those dont solve your problem, it'll more than likely be axles, wheel bearings, or something bigger.
