Crazy issue, tranny/engine

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ3qhi-SSpU

Here is a link to something that just started happening to my friends car, i've owned four Maximas and never heard such a noise, some insight would be nice. Only happens in gears "r" or "d(1)(2)". Also when driving but mostly noticeable after every shift.

For better answers give more details. Does it only make that noise at certain RPMs? Is it only cold start/warm run? When you say mostly noticeable after every shift, do you mean it only happens for a second or two after the car shifts, or is it non-stop but the loudest after every shift? How many miles on the car? Does the car have any mods or has it been recently worked on?

To be honest I have no idea what that noise could be, but I think the more experianced members here would need to know some more info before being able to tell what it is. IMO, any and all details could help diagnose the problem. If I were you I would provide as much detail as possible to help them rule certain things out.

Well it just started today so I don't have much detail it was cold and warm start. As long as as the car was in a motion gear the noise was being made, as the Rpms went up the noise slienced so I would say close to idling Rpms. No recent work and about 157 thousand its an 00

I doubt I will be a huge help, but a lot of people look at this site cia phones and that link cannot be clicked. It must be copied and pasted. That is far to much effort on a phone!! Just a heads up.

Sounds like a bad torque convertor or bad transmission pump.

Yes. Aside from that how does it shift? If you're lucky it's only those two parts that need to be swapped...however if it's shifting funky, the fluid looks bad and has metal floating around...a complete rebuild might be in your immediate future.
