I am assuming you are thinking about leaving some kind of filter on there somewhere right? No filter = bad things for your motor.

You really have to have a good filting system on the intake somehow to protect your motor.

I have another thread comparing the two top aftermarket filter systems PRCAI(cattman) and Stillen(and others of similiar design). Seems like it really comes down to $$$ and personal preference though. Dynos and 1/4 miles seem to contradict. Dyno for SI is higher, but 1/4 for CAI is quicker. There is another link in that thread as well to check out. There is more tech info than needs to be repeated here.

In THEORY, running an open MAF/TB would be good if you had NO particles to suck into your motor. Mesh aint gonna cut it. Stick with something proven, you'll save yourself headaches in the long run.

The only think you need is remove the stock airbox, and take the MAF sensor and then hookup a K&N style cone filter. Costs about $25 at Autozone.

Only problem is the one side of the MAF sensor has a SQAURE opening, you need to have a plate made to attach it with 4 screws and have the plate also have a 3" pipe fitting on it. This is what Stillen and JWT Popchargers basically are, i mean obviously it is different, but the way the MAF side connectes to the Cone filter is the same,

i think...you need surface area>>the bigger the surface area, more air..filter has to be there, cuz even with a single grain of dirt, that can ruin your injectors..
