What tire to get out of these ? Personal reviews ?

Im looking at three different tires.

I dont know what to get. I have heard DWS is the best, I personally think the General Tire one looks nice, seems like a good tire, and the DW looks lame.

Here are the tires
DWS

General

Your help will be greatly appreciated ! I have BF Goodrich Grand Sports right now, and they are about to be gone !

Thanks !

DWS is fantastic.

Know what's lame? Getting a tire based on the look of it.

I like the tires with the tread in the V formation.

However I wouldn't base my choice on that haha. DWS mang.

I'm running the DWS and am really happy with them so far. I used to run Proxes 4 but decided that I wanted a longer tread life. I haven't noticed a decrease in performance but I don't really drive that aggressive any more.

I've heard good things about General in general, but not those specific tires.

Can't go wrong with the DWS if you ask me.

I would say my Hankook Ventus V12, but it's a summer tire, I know where I'm at winter doesn't exist

Do the DWS make a lot of noise? Just curious, the tread design looks like they would.

"A lot" is subjective. They're quieter than the Proxes I used to run. Overall, I've been really pleased with them. The wind noise is louder to me than the tire noise.

Ah yes, that's what I was getting at. If I can hear tires over wind noise then something is wrong.

They are fairly quiet, especially for performance tires.

Tire choice depends on your driving habits and the driving conditions. Please don't get a tire based on looks only to find out it's sh**ty on snow and ice.

That said, I'm going with DWS around October simply because I want a better handling winter tire for the small amount of snow/ice this area might see.

You'll be pretty happy then. I thought my DWS's handled well in the white stuff and TireRack agrees.

The Conti's have nothing but positive reviews from Nissan owners in all driving conditions. Seems like you can't go wrong despite them not having a good looking tread pattern.

While the tread pattern is in no way "conventional" or "pretty"...the tires work great in all conditions. Here in Seattle we get rain and sun...with occasional snow. I have gone through all 3 in my tires since I got them, and they are absolutely PHENOMINAL!

Well I've actually run both these tires on my car. I had the DWS on my 17" TE rims. They are excellent tires as the reviews have shown. Very quiet, comfortable and probably the best winter rating of all the high performance all seasons. Con - soft soft soft sidewall. I'm not a very aggressive driver though so for me it was a great tire.

I just bought and have maybe 500km's on a set of Generals on 19's. These are a new interesting tread design and they were a great price. Conti and General are the same company so I'm sure they sharing a lot of knowledge and learning across product lines. So far so good. Fairly quiet, good grip. Time will tell but I'm very happy so far.

I purchased a new set of DWS' in late Nov. of 2010 and have just over 7k on them. Excellent tire with no complaints. Grip is great in all conditions, but I have yet to really push them in dry conditions. Can't really test either because of front suspension issues. Overall I think they are way more than adequate for everyday driving, even for aggressive drivers. So far they have survived two Detroit winters without complaints and the roads here are so ****ty we'd be better off if they were gravel.

Also, I used tirerack because of their excellent comparison tools but I purchased them from Discount Tire because lifetime replacement, rotations and balancing are included. Stuff to chew on.

I have been using Hankook Ventus tires for the past 7-8 years and absolutely love them. Excellent performance and very quiet (they only get noisy when they wear to the point of needing replacement - kind of a service alarm for me, lol). Very good tread life too.

The V12's have a very appealing tread pattern, but I use the V4ES because I like the much longer life on them - as the tire wrench that sold me my first set told me: "it's a V rated tire that wears like an H" and that has held true.

I agree with this. And based on the location of the OP, does NC get that much snow that you need all-season tires?
