Need some SES Light advice please

I took my 2001 Maxima (60K miles) to the Nissan Service for an unrelated reason , and asked them at the occassion to see what the SES light was coming on and off for two years now. They diagnosed PO-420, and PO-158
(bank 1 catalytic converter with O2 sensor and both bank 1 &2 res.O2 sensors ) that's what they said.
They cleared the code ,the SES light is off but five days later I went to gett my Texas inspection sticker , it failed the emissions test on A-catalyst Not Ready, and B- O2 Sens Not Ready
The mechanic said to drive it for apx 100 miles and come back ,and even if one of the two is Ready he will pass it . Which is the cheapest to fix?
Other years I was able to pass the inspection , even though the SES light was going on and OFF. Do I go to another inspection Station ???
Any insight on what I should do other that spending a couple of thousand $'s? (that I don't have )
Thanks

The cheapest to fix is the O2 sensor, but in all likelihood, that's not your problem. The problem is the catalytic, which in turn is triggering the O2 code because the bad catalytic is making the O2 sensor read out of range.

My wrench had me do what your suggested you do and it worked, excehpt he only had me drive it for ~20 minutes. However, don't put it off on replacing the catalytic. Prolonged running of the vehicle on a bad cat is inevitably going to lead to bigger headaches and more expenses.

I just did an engine swapped, an 06 Maxima engine into an 03, drove it about 80 miles so far, city and highway. Check engine light is not on so i took it in for inspection and it failed emission test just like yours, the inspection guy said just keep driving it and bring it back in a week or two, if no lights are on then it should pass no problem. He said some cars will take longer for "system ready" after clearing the codes.
