2000 Maxima SE Manual 5 spd.

Due to tore up CV boot, I got new drives side CV axle. Everything went OK, but now how do you make sure that the inner CV shaft ( that goes to the manual tranny) seal correctly. I pushed it as much as I can by hand and got to engage the teeth, but not sure if that is deep enough. I didn't realized about the tranny oil , so now I got to get new tranny since it was pouring down on the floor...oh well.
