I thought it was the Panamera you didn't like?
As far as the Cayman goes, I really like the Cayman S with the DFI engine. I drove one with the PDK double clutch transmission with the Sport Chrono package which included the upgraded suspension and 19" wheels. It was a beast of a little car.

sheit the whole line of SRT8's they have out now are win. They are performance cars and they deliver. Not like alot of these luxury/sports cars that seem to be all the rage nowadays. Don't get me wrong, the new TL is sick but its more luxury to me. I look at it like a Mercedes. YOu buy it for the luxury and the performance is an added bonus. You don't go looking to buy a Mercedes for pure performance although Im sure some rich people do. Now the M3 is a different story. Its aimed at performance and the luxury is an added bonus. Enter Tbehr to prove me wrong though
Give me an E55 AMG with a Renntech Stage 1 kit (the base kit) and it will pull bus lengths on a V-10 M5.

The reason why the Cayman was placed in the middle was marketing to fill the large void between the Boxster and 911 Carrera. The Cayman actually has the potential on the chassis level to be better than the 911. On a skidpad, the Cayman actually pulls a higher number than a 911, but the 911 will always be faster, of course. Little brother isn't going to dethrone it's bigger brother king.
dont even get me started on the 5 series lineup and it will pull bus lengths because the newer 5 series' are about the size of a bus

The 911 is a 911/964. I'd rather have the 911/993. Better chassis and completely different rear suspension, which made it a much better handling car.

It has Ruf wheels, but no Ruf badge on the rear decklid, nor on the front trunklid where the Porsche crest is (which is absent) and it has the Ruf front chin spoiler which housed an oil cooler in the front.
EDIT... The side intakes on the rear fender flares aren't stock on a 930. They only came on the slope nose.

I doubt it's a Ruf. There were alot of fakes back then. The absense of Ruf badges on the engine decklid and the front drunklid lean towards this. The rear fender flares with the air intakes are from a slope nose. Those aren't Ruf. Authentic slope nose fenders had wooden slats in the air intakes, aftermarket ones were metal. Also, the only way to tell it's an actual Ruf is the VIN plate. When Ruf did the conversion, everything on the car that said Porsche was removed, and it became a Ruf with a Ruf VIN plate.

Shock i totally agree with you about people driving a boxter and thinking they're hot ****. pisses me off even more if its the super base model.
i think the boxter should've been replaced by the cayman and the offered a cayman convertible.
yup... i completely agree, its already better than 911 just because of the MR layout.
Panamera looks UGLY... cross between the cayenne and a 911 and i don't think the cayenne is an awesome looking car.
My friends got a (i believe) '73 911t with a '85 or '86 911 3.2F6 in it. its tiny and very light and just GOES! lol couple of years ago we took it around a corner and got cocky and added too much gas and we spun out almost hitting the curb! no way to save that azz once it breaks loose. i should get some vids up of it its pretty awesome

The Cayman does have a point. It's right smack in the middle in price and performance between the Boxster and the 911 Carrera. It's basically a hardtop Boxster with a kick in the pants boost in performance.

Yes, the Panamera does look awkward, but they are a great driving car. The turbo's performance for it's size is just insane.

Find out what year engine it is. If it's an 87, it has the upgraded L-Jetronic Bosch fuel injection with Motronics 2 DME's with a MAF which gave it an increase in power over the engine before it.

The 87 on up was the one to have. It had the much better Getrag G50 5 speed transmission. Hopefully he has that transmission in it. The way to tell is that reverse is to the left and up, rather than to the right and down.

i shall find that out for us! i remember the tranny being 1st left and up... i think i know what you mean by better tranny, its hard to get in gear sometimes. i think it was 2 or 3 gear that i kept grinding a bit
as for the engine i don't think its the 87 cause i don't remember there being a MAF on the intake but i'm not 100% on this. i estimate the acceleration to be low to mid 5 sec to 60 mph if that helps... sounds to me like adding a maf and upgraded FI would add quite a bit more power with better driveability. i'll make a vid when the car gets out from under the covers, its loads of fun to drive!
