Seriously. He would say that.
It took me forever to put it into proper perspective. Eventually, I realized he just didn't have the verbal skills to convey what he meant with the words he was using. He wasn't stupid, he just wasn't good with words. Oh, and he thought he was never, ever wrong, which certainly didn't help matters. Every conversation was one-way with that guy.
