Pollen! That's it!

We had just a drizzle today, no real rain to speak of. So my whole car was covered in serious waterspots. I washed it this evening, and you could still sense where the spots were, even after chamois drying the car. Then I went over it with a detailing polish... but I still feel like I want to wax it again. Thinking maybe of getting a coat of paste wax on, and that this NxT Tech Wax just doesn't have staying power.

It's not that I obsess over this stuff or anything. I really don't care.

Yup, I came out of work and saw the spots on my car. Drives me nuts seeing them on the hood when I drive but atm I don't have a choice.

Um, yea, right. Try a microfiber drying towel. I find them better @ removing water spots, (stains), after, (hand), washing.

Normally, I would agree with you. But he came in saying how he's given up taking care of his car... but he wants to meet up. WTF?

Oh and LOL @thereacharound. Good one, that.

microfiber drying towel better than a chamois, eh? Think I'll have to try one out. I'm also thinking I want to try out the NxT paste wax. Love the liquid, but would like more than 3-4 weeks of it.

Question, can the 6MT clutch be used on a 5MT? Or just the pressure plate at least.

In other news, cjandura has a new avatar, with Gwen Ifill posing next to one of the ball boys at her tennis club.

How nice.

Here's good question for this crew... what's the best way to launch my car? Should I rev it and dump the clutch, or walk it off idle? I've had successes and failures with both approaches.

Sometimes if you dump the clutch, it bogs down before it can pick up. And if you rev it too high, you spin. Neither are good. But when it catches perfectly, it can be a real rush, like a sledgehammer kicking you off the line.

And while that's nice, it's more satisfying to have that perfect launch off idle into WOT, where it's less like a hammer, and more like a rubber band, if you follow the analogy. The problem is, getting this perfect launch is more difficult, and more often than not it goes wrong.

I really need to learn how to drive.

Hustler drags cars. School me, son. No, wait... he drives automatics at the strip.

That perfect launch sweet spot can be difficult.

I would never guess you would use that syn wax stuff......

Im old school and seek out a good brazilian carnauba and upkeep with a good polish and clay bar. I waxed mine not 3 weeks ago and it still performs flawlessly in the rain. If I have the money I get Zaino(http://www.zainostore.com/) but really Mothers California Gold Original Formula Carnauba Cleaner Wax is fine and more readily found in stores. I love that mothers plus it comes with an application pad

Bogging because Trac control.

Even with trac control off (button off) it's not fully disabled. If you dump the clutch the trac control will blip in, and bog you down.

You need to find the RPM dump just before the tires spin and just before Trac control doesn't like what it sees. That's all you can do short of modifying/disabling the Traction Control system.
