True, they do like to be played loud, and Cerwin Vega's sound their best at high volume. My aunt gave me a pair she had long time ago so I know from experience. The reason why I didn't get them is because i'm in an apartment. The small JBL 8" floor speakers and the Polk bookshelf speakers that I have right now do a good job.

That's simple stuff for most modern equipment. Back in the day you needed an expensive Audiophile turntable/stylus setup. Just to track the Telarc vinyl recording, without the tonearm jumping out of the grooves! They almost lost their shirt on that mistake. The CD saved them from going out of business. But in the process lots of people blew up amps/speakers playing it.

Got a set of Klipsch speakers (center, rears, sub, fronts)built into a home entertainment system, and they sound great. They'll rock the floors 5 rooms away, whether watching a movie or listening to music

I also have an Optimus Pro SW-12 downfiring subwoofer that I bought at a local flea market several years ago for $20. I believe it's rated at 200rms, and it thumps pretty good. I disconnected it because it was just too much combined with the JBL 8" speakers. I also need to get a new foam surround put on it because it dryrotted when I had it in storage for a few years. But at a low bass setting it sounds good without it being too much for my neighbors.

I'm a cheap-o. I'll stick with my BICs But I do probably need to mod the crossover (or get the one's from EFE).

It would be nice to afford some of EFE's built speakers, though.

Soundstage fail you look to be about 8 ft awat so tv should be 68" from bottom of tv to floor and speakers should be mounted 42" from either side at 60" and center chan eye level if the room is over 200sf sub should be right rear if your right handed

Fcukin apple...

Google dropped the price of the galaxy nexus to $349, unlocked with no contract straight from them but sales have been blocked due to another one of their ridiculous patent lawsuits. Slide to unlock, voice command, etc. These technologies have been out long before apple made mobile devices. If they stopped using their money to win techno battles in court vs actually making something new and innovative like they claim, they would actually have a worthwhile device.

I HAD a Cerwin Vega SW12-B floor-firing subwoofer. It'd shake stuff at eardrum busting volume, but fell on it's face otherwise. It sounded dirty, boomy, & not at all linear enough to be called musical. Kinda their MO w/speakers. Since I live in a condo I HAD to find speakers that kicked azz at low volume levels. IMO Pinnacles are the best bang for a buck speaker on the market. I had a friend w/an Audiophile system (KRELL Amp, Von Schweikert VR-4 Speakers & etc.) listen to my 'Mid-Fi' setup. This guy's been into the High-End audio business for many years. His basic comment was it only sins by omission. And kept asking how much I paid for the system, especially the Pinnacle speakers, since he couldn't believe how good it sounded. He just shook his head & said you need to throw out a lot of money to get something that sounds appreciably better than this. In fact I've heard some big bucks setups that don't sound as good as yours!

Not a shabby assessment for a modest 'old school Mid-Fi' setup. W/Denon DRW-585 tape deck, Rega P1 turntable & Pioneer DV-563A multi-disk player; Sourcing a Yamaha RXV-1400 7.1 Receiver; 2x Pinnacle AC-400 Satellites, 2x Pinnacle Digital-Sub 150 Subs & 1x Pinnacle AC Center.
And before anyone comments, yeah that's a CRT! Because if it ain't broke...

Plus 1x Pinnacle 'Pyramid' speaker in each corner of the room (2x 'Presence' 2x Surrounds)

Actually they're not small but a ~15 equilateral pyramid that couples to the walls/ceiling to give the diffusion of a dipole & clarity of a direct radiating speaker. A novel approach that goes back to, how K-Horns in the corner coupled to the room. Gives a nice sound-stage & smooth L/R sound transitions. Granted, they're only rated @ 60Hz-18kHz +/-3dB but that's good enough for a surround.

It's all in the patents. There are 3 different types of patents. A utility patent has a lifespan of 20 years, and a design patent is 14 years. (which this would fall under) There's a third patent called a plant patent, if you design some sort of hybrid and/or genetically engineered plant.

US patent (and many EU counties) laws are a joke, though. Apple did not invent anything nor should you try to patent half the **** they claim. They patented a shiny rectangle shape. Are you Fing kidding me

No one buys the patent claims. Only a moron would think it's about that. It's about trying to keep Sammy out of the market - no different than any other market patent disputes that border on the insane. Apple can't stand competition, especially when their devices are trounced. Sammy makes more smartphones alone than apple does. And now they're poised to take on the tablet market (which has seen its share of lawsuits).
