5th gen Off Topic Thread (Official Ghustle thread v1)
You've got something going on there that's to be respected. Enjoy it.
If I set my t-stat to 72 the a/c wouldn't shut off. Not when it's this hot outside. If I set it below 78 it runs too much. My electric bill would be insane if I turned it down any lower.
Fawk trading the maxima for the golf... just can't do it .. even the wife said it would be one of the dumbest things I ever did. With me putting in so much much work getting it to look as good as it does
I live in an old apartment building. It actually used to be military housing back in the 40's during WW2 for the Navy. Also, the a/c unit is also old. It's been cleaned and serviced, but when it's 100+ degrees outside it can only do so much in an older building that isn't insulated well. I've talked to the maintenance guy and he says that's all he can do for it until it breaks beyond repair to the point where it would have to be replaced. I do have a small window unit in the living room to help out.
Well your wife is a smart woman. Glad you've cured your case of rectal-cranial inversion... Welcome back from the dark side!
Since you live in PA, you should get a coal burning stove. Hell you can go to a side of a hill somewhere and pick anthracite right out of the ground.
When my grandparents used to live in Ohio, they had a coal burning stove in their house. Anthracite burns clean and hot. They could heat the entire house with just one stove going. You only have to load it once every 12 hours and give the hopper a shake every few hours.
Well that's good.

Try this one! Killed many respectable systems in it's day. By over driving the AMP/speakers into major distortion. Either way the result is melted voice coils &/or output stage. Should work well to kill a cheap system.
Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Op. 49 - TELARC Edition - WARNING! Digitally Recorded LIVE Cannons!
"WARNING - PLEASE find out on a lower volume, how your sound system will respond to the two cannon salvos. The first salvo consists of five LOUD shots. The second salvo a couple of minutes later, consists of 11 (Eleven) LOUD booms. Serious damage can occur to your speakers if your sound is not ultra clean. I would advise AGAINST using a Graphic Equalizer with this CD. Graphic Equalizers only tend to muddy sound in order to give those that use them, the floppy sound they want."

I myself like bass. The more the better!
I occasionally look on Craigslist and I find all sorts of home audio stuff for sale on there for cheap.
One example was a pair of Cerwin Vega XLS-28's that a college student was selling for dirt cheap because he had to move and couldn't take them with him. I almost bought them, and i'm kinda regretting not doing so. They were rated as one of the top 10 floor speakers in 2011 by Audio Video Clan, and retail for $600 a pair.

Borrow a friend's truck and load it up, throw a tarp over it and go home and dump/shovel it into your coal bin. Since it's the middle of the summer it will look like you're hauling crap for your yard.
You can also buy it bagged. It's around 40-50lbs per bag. Go to Enterprise and rent a Dodge minivan. It has a payload capacity of 1500ish pounds, and you can fold the stow-and-go seats into the floor and load up. That's thirty 50lb bags you can load in it without going over the weight limit. Take it home and store it anywhere you like.
Also get some firewood. Throw in a split piece of wood every so often to make wood smoke. It will look like you're just using your fireplace.
