5th gen Off Topic Thread (Official Ghustle thread v1)
HFCs + Tune = 30whp, I was shocked.
And one day the VVEL will be cracked.... Then it's on
We have a set that was painted black and have some curb scratches, an easy fix following that kid's How To in the 5th gen section.
$500 plus shipping?

Stillen (?) Cat-back in 2014.
Stillen Gen-3 long-tube intake in 2015.
At which point, I'll explore tuning options. Figure by then, who knows what the aftermarket crowd will have discovered about the G and that engine. Remember how long it took for the Maxima tuner community to get on board with phenolic spacers and 3.0" exhausts?
Thanks, but considering I'll need to repaint & just w/shipping to RI we're probably talking >$600 all said & done. Bit too much for my current budget.
Steep bro.
Berk HFC's are happening Spring 2013.

Will I buy another one? Of course not, I'm making something better of course

You think that's steep? You should see the bold *** price we have on car-part
We're just high when it comes to wheels, it's the nature of the Salvage industry.
Yes. Winner.
1. 96-02 Chevy 1500
2. Nissan Hardbody
The first being my first pick. Ugly, reliable, mediocre on fuel.
And lolz about winter. Hence the 'pun'. I know you don't have winter tires
I could put my hands on the cattman after about 20 mins of waiting.
Same w/ my OBX headers.
Ah well, guess so. I'd never get wheels from you then lmao. Expecially salvage wheels, they'd be worth less to me due to the accident and rough handling. And if I had a problem not like I can just send them back for replacement lolz.

That's why we rarely sell them as sets, always sell em one at a time.
Yeah, I just couldn't pass up the deal I got for these springs and adjustable Illuminas. I know coilovers are better, but it took Eddie and I 2 hours to do the complete swap and the car is 1000 times better than it was. Springs aren't THAT bad...
That's because stainless is a good thermal barrier & keeps heat in the exhaust gas where you want it to stay.
Struts+Springs are just not for true performance, it's only a cop out when there's nothing better to buy.
Dude the SS on cattman's / obx's are damn near paper thin, you gotta be kidding me.....
There was a big big difference in the look of Chevy 1500's from 96 to 2002. Unless Canada is that much different, the body change came in 99 and they stopped making Silverado classics (or Chevy C/K's) in 2000.
Same here! Over the winter, I got a set of BNIB Eibachs/Illuminas w/F/R OEM boots, mounts, bearings & ES LCA bushings just sitting in the garage. Paid $560 shipped, couldn't pass that up. I should get my azz in gear & install them. But I got rust problems to deal w/1st. If the car's a total rust-bucket it might not worth modding.

Certainly been a learning experience w/ the White Nightmare, made me really appreciate how well taken care of the red car was.

One thing I did discover is that it's hard to get that back bolt on the rear springs when you have large hands....and you gotta have a hell of a wobbly to get any torque on it because of the angle. That was by far the most difficult part of the job and it still only took a couple hours to do everything. Big advantage though is my friend Eddie owns a shop with lifts and air tools and everything you could possibly need. Definitely helps having the right tools for the job!
No lie. It all has to do with the thermal properties of the metal. Just like a microscopically thin transparent coating of Aluminum works as a thermal barrier on low-E glass. It reflects heat, but if it was thicker it would conduct it. Weird stuff to wrap your head around!
My basic plan is to take care of all the rust on the car as #1 priority. Then go from there once it's a solid piece, but if there's no way it's going to be solid. Find another Maxima that's solid (not that easy in NE) & Mod that car.
