Why cruise control, WHY? (cruise top speed)
Why cruise control, WHY? (cruise top speed)
Afternoon people, So last night i was coming home from a trip quite late and the roads were completely empty, which made for a great drive. Anyways, my issue that i can't seem to find any answers for is; Is there a top speed for cruise control? I'd click the "on" button but when i'd hit the "set" button it would not activate. Is that cruise control having a maximum speed? Or is something wrong with my system?
Cause its a nissan maxima.
As much as I am a nissan fan boy, I would have to say you would have to be an idiot to ship a usdm maxima overseas
That's not my point... I drive it here in the states. In fact i've never been to Germany. My point was when there's empty roads, and you can easily cruise at 110-120MPH it'd be nice to have cruise.
There is a lot of state troopers in UT but about 80miles out of the major city they don't really radar. There is also a lot of speed limit test areas that allow 85mph speeds. I always travel at least 95-110 when I'm visiting my mom 350miles away. I feel like if you have tires rated for those speeds with the tread and your car can safely maneuver at 100mph I don't see the harm in going that fast with little to no traffic.

. Driving through Kansas recently I was stopped and given 'warning' for driving 78 in 75 zone. I had GPS on and was using cruise so my speed was definitely not higher. I believe, I got 'warning' and not a real ticket simply because I had out of that state driving license. The cop was driving in the opposite direction of the hwy and still went into trouble to chase me. I liked driving in Utah, BTW- judging by other car's speed there was no ongoing war against drivers.

To the best of my knowledge, cruise control on ALL recent Nissan vehicles - including the G35 - is limited to speeds between 25 to 89 MPH (40 to 144 km/h). It is in the owner's manual
For a slightly optimistic speedometer, this looks like 90 mph. Why? Nissan decided, "CYOA." Two [imo] obvious answers:
1. It is not needed on any public roads in the USA, as all speed limits fall under 89 mph.
2. Using cruise control at speeds above 89 mph is not wise/safe.
And it's not all it's cracked up to be.
How can I say that? I have an E39 BMW 530i and drive it regularly on the Autobahn.
Like I said, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Now maybe you can understand why it was the German car manufacturers that first introduced adaptive cruise control... btw. I can set the cruise in my BMW at anything above 20 mph
