Mishimoto Radiator with 12" Blue slim fans

Just wanted to post just in case anyone was wondering how the Mishimoto Radiator looked in a 5.5 gen. I bought some 12" blue slim fans off eBAY and a nice looking blue radiator cap cover that I seen on the "what do you do to make your engine bay pretty" forum. I also bought brand new upper radiator mounts and powder coated them Candy blue. Its sparkling silver, then candy blue and a top coat over that. Turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!

Looks good man. I know the car is currently in the shop being worked on, but polish up the rest of the details in the bay when it comes out. The VTC selinoid and the timing cover takes away from how nice the other accents are. But good job on the car so far. Its gonna be a beast when you're done with that haltech.

Thanks bro...plan on cleaning it up with a rag when it gets done. Im not spending any extra on the timing cover at all...that cost too much money and basically have to take whole engine out......lol. Ive spent enough...lol.

Looks good!

I have been thinking about getting one of these radiators, but I'd probably would clean up and reuse the factory electric fans/shroud.

mini crank case??? you talking about the breather filter? No, it doesn't run lean because of that I have a tune. If you are not tuned you need to remove BOTH the front and rear and replace with breather filters.

I've got one too. I makes the engine bay look a lot cleaner. I was on my third plastic radiator and found this mishimoto on ebay for 140. Im auto so I had to use a external transmission cooler set up.

I think thats why you are running lean.....you need to remove both. The other location that needds a filter is in the back of the engine on the rear crank case up under the IM:

I wont be at the meet next week because car is still in the shop and I have a performance next weekend anyway. There will be plenty of meets this summer that I will be going to though. You'll be seeing me around trust me...lol!!

I think you are thinking about the Auto Tranny and I have a MT. It was as simple as removing the old and dropping the new one it....really that simple. No oil lines no transmission lines...nothing. I bought all new rubber mounts for upper and lower and brand new upper brackets just because its an old car and they were really cheap from the dealer. Better safe than sorry.

I also got new coolant lines in and going to powdercoat those as well!!! Something like this but candy blue:

I also got the side part and connecting little elbow that the lines connect to and powdercoating those as well!!

I really would like to get a new timing cover and polish that but thats just way too much money.....having to take the freakin engine out and do all that work....forget it, not worth it to me.

I have an auto and the stock radiator has coolant lines that run through the bottom the radiator. All I did was buy a Hayden aftermarket cooler and put it in front of the condenser and ran the line to that. The external cooler IMO runs cooler. After driving I can put my hand on it and it warm, also when the fans cut on its pulling air through it.

This Radiator looks sweet! Is it a double row all aluminum or just a single row? I'm interested in this if the Oem fan setup will bolt to it! I'm interested if the Oem shroud fit and bolts too it cause not having a shroud causes your radiator to be less efficient @ cooling your engine....as for the built in liquid to liquid oil cooler I would go big as possible with an external transmission oil cooler to ensure it's more than enough to cool my tranny especially on a hot day of track use....

You can use the OEM shroud. I'm thinking of doing the same thing. My rad just has a pinhole leak, I'm waiting to see if I have to wait a day or two or a week or two for this one.

The stock fans fit, just have to zip tie the bottom. I have a bar and plate type of tranny cooler, I can tell a difference the tranny has nice firm shifts all the time now. Instead of after a few hours of drive and getting that slipping type of shift. The test was when I was in stop and go traffic in Atlanta for import alliance.

I had this issue with mine on my 4th Gen. I swapped the raditor cap with the oem cap and it doesn't scrape anymore.

Encountered the same problem. I just tapped under the hood with a hammer and a flathead screwdriver and problem fixed..

yes sir! I do small parts so its OK in the oven. I don't know about large parts. But I've know people who have powdercoated their intake manifold and used their home oven and it worked.......
