I have PIAA Plasma Yellow halogen bulbs in my fogs. Since the bulb is tinted and not the lens, the fog lights look normal when not turned on. They improve visibility a decent amount compared to stock, but that's probably because they burn much hotter than the stock bulbs. Either way they were pretty helpful during the last set of winter snowstorms.
If you don't want to go H.I.D. and don't want to tint your lenses, definitely go with these.

I'm getting my 3000k fogs in tomorrow (should be anyways). I had the yellow fogs on the Lexus I had right before this Maxima, and they seemed to light up the road quite a bit better than the factory Maxima ones.
Of course, I mainly got them because they look dope, but seeing the road better is cool too.

I love my 3000k...
Here is a comparison of the PIAA on the left and 3000K HID on the right...
They do help see the road alot better that's for sure... I'd say the time where it makes the biggest difference is while driving on curvy mountain roads at night, because they light up the side very well, which is great when taking tight corners. They also do help on the rain also, but I try not to use them on the rain because it can blind other drivers...
