What's wrong with my headlights?

I would be driving down the road and i'll see another maxxy with it's head lights on but with this light in the top corners on too.

I dont understand how they have that to work?
Is that a mod? Or my bulbs are blown in that area?

When I have my headlights on, they dont come on for some reason.

Can anyone help me please?

Also,
I know maximas dont really have DLRs unless you mod the fogs to stay on without the head lights being on...but i see people have there corn lamps on.

its the settings like;

Off
Auto
=> <=
<\\\

When I have it on the third light setting nothing comes on except for my tail lights and side markers but I blacked them out already, so they are out of the question.

Any advice or information will be most appreciated, thanks!

Your bulbs are blown, those lights come on with the headlights, and when just the interior//sidemarker/tail lights are turned on.

I'm really struggling here. Just to say that those upper circle lights are supposed to be on.
Look, just check your bulbs. We cannot tell you if they are blown. I think you really answered your own question.

Just go buy some new bulbs, replace them and take it from there...

lol @ people saying that the bulbs are blown without knowing if thats the actual issue. Even though id say that the bulbs being blown is MOST LIKELY the problem i wouldn't just jump to a conclusion and say that they are, but yes they are supposed to be on with the parking lights.

They should be on with parking lights, I find it easiest to just pull the headlamp off a little to replace them.
Get some led 194 bulbs and throw them in

Step 1) Remove old bulbs
Step 2) Visit an auto parts store
Step 2b) If you are feeling spendy, visit the dealership
Step 3) Ask to purchase new bulbs of the type you are holding
Step 4) Try known good bulbs in the car

Step 5 and beyond deal with checking fuses (if any) and wiring harnesses for shorts and so on.

You could also buy LED bulbs which will last longer.

I'd also like to know how this comes on. And how to wire this with the fogs to come on independently.

I would like to do that too with my fogs after I get my 6000k bulbs for them, but i have read up that there is minor wiring in the fuse box with the relays or there is some kind of kit you can buy to make it happen. They have some threads on here to show you how to DIY.

Idk if this helps but i just wanted to give you some info that i picked up while searching this.

It's your parking light. There are how-to docs written up to rewire it to turn your fogs on with the parking lights.

This is one of the more popular ones: http://www.shiftice.com/fog_rewire.html

I have the fogs rewired. I'm talking about the light that the OP posted about in the corner of the headlight. I've seen people have that on along with the fogs. SO i'm asking how to wire that corner light in the headlight to come on with the fogs.

So you basically want to wire your fogs to come on when you turn your parking lights on(the corner light)?

Maybe my bulbs are just blown...I never knew wiring the fogs like that would also make those lights come on independently.

I know what you mean, i think mine are blown too because the wiring looks fine to the bulb its self. I might be getting the wiring done to my fogs this weekend.

were kinda in the same boat

On the stalk for the the lights, there are 4 settings: Off, Auto, Parking Lights, and Headlights.

When Parking Lights is selected, the lights that are circled in the OP's picture are supposed to come on. If they don't, you either have blown bulbs or some kind of electrical issue. The parking light setting is on just about ever car manufactured.

When Headlights are selected, the Parking Lights are supposed to be on in addition to the headlights. I believe it's a safety issue in the event that a headlight goes out, you still have a light on that side of the vehicle so that others on the road know that you aren't riding a motorcycle.

This forum is about helping, no question. At this point I feel the only other help that can be provided is to NOT attempt to re-wire your light if you are incapable of checking or changing your bulbs!

Yeah, he could have cut the wrong wire when doing the fog rewire which may prevent them from coming on.

The how-to in the link I posted is more clear, plus step #11 tells you to check that the parking lights come on with the fog lights.
