This same tester gives the 2002 Mustang GT a 15.1 in the 1/4 for the 5-speed, WHICH DOES ABOUT 14.5 LAST I SAW, and he also test's Toyota's Avalon and it has the SAME 0-60 as the 45 more HP and lighter Maxima?! sure http://carpoint.msn.com/Vip/Heraud/T...alon/2002S.asp

thats for sure, this Daniel Haraud fella doesn't seem to be doing the tests that well. and in my opinion, i dont think you will get the best results in a 1/4 mile and 0-60 run when you push a brand new car that hasn't been broken in. i think its car and driver that does the long term tests on some cars, i remember they did one on a grand cherokee limited, they did a 1/4 mile, 0-60 and other tests when it was new, and the same tests after 40k miles, the results? the car was quicker in the 1/4 by a couple tenths of a second(.1-.2 faster), it was quicker in the 0-60, and the gas mileage was better after 40k miles. i'm not saying that cars should be tested at 40k miles, but they should broken in atleast, and several tests should be run, not just one 1/4 mile, that doesn't give any real, accurate info. sorry for the long post, i just started rambling on.

Have no fear...

Nissan themselves rated the 2000 maxima to have a 0-60 in 6.7 seconds in road and track (april, 2000). I dont think they can lie about that....

hmmmm

I dont think he's even sat in a new maxima

"Steering: It's over-assisted, light, sensitive and vague on center. It is nevertheless quick and the extremely short turning radius makes the Maxima diabolically maneuverable."

Short turning radius? wha?

Maybe he was test-driving a Mitsubishi Mirage...short turning radius...although 8 seconds is a bit fast...Mirage...Maxima...close.

Yea he is very right; Nissan doesn’t just give press (test drive) cars away like pamphlets. Especially 2002 models, none of the premier magazines have been able to get a new max for testing (with the exception of a BREIF Motor Trend first drive) so how the hell did the Highly Revered CarPoint get one?!!?......Exactly they didn’t. Nissan only released two press altimas a Seascape and a tan/beige and one maxima to Forbes and that still was not a full test drive......Pure B.S.(He probably went to a dealer for a tune up and got a hold of a loaner and wrote a makeshift report)

yep...I did noticed that too...if you read the overview(http://carpoint.msn.com/vip/Heraud/N...xima/2002O.asp) he talks about the Testing Methodology(which is BS btw...hehe) on how he runs a 28 miles loop and how he(his people) test each car for a week(which is another BS story) cuz he has a few months to test all those 2002 cars and review them...he needs tons of proffesional people to do that and a lot of time...which he doesn't have so again all i can say for that man is to go f*** himself with his suck a** reviews

That's what I'm saying. My 2k Max does the 0-60 in about that time, give or take a second or two. I really don't know what there talking about the 2k2 Max doing 8sec. for the 0-60.

I don't even think they actually tested the car, because you can never get that off....even if i count in my head 0-60, i could count 7 and not 8....its just f***ed up
