5.5 gen auto to 6spd swap write up

I have searched for a write up on swapping a 6spd tranny into an automatic 5.5
but i could not get a one to come up.

Can someone post the link to this swap info and a parts list for me please?

I have read the best tranny to get is an 04-05 6th gen tranny but there is no
guarantee of getting one w/hlsd. Am I better off getting a guaranteed hlsd out of an 03 or a possible non hlsd out of the 6th gen? Thank u in advance

Same as the 5MT writeup. Except you have to bolt the 6MT mount to your chassis, use a 6MT starter and 6MT shifter and cables.

Here is a fool proof write-up:

1. Sell your car
2. Buy one with a 6 speed

Odds are you can get a 6 speed car for less than you can sell your car for. Most people will list a car with a manual transmission for a lower price than an automatic because the average person won't buy a car with a manual.

I got my 6MT for less than the payout on my higher mileage totaled 4AT.

This may not be the answer you want but it will be much cheaper to simply sell your current car and get one with a 6 speed. Plus it will be factory.

for everybody interested in doing a swap, please do not read this as its not true...... my 6MT swap was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less hassle than, Demodding n finding stock parts, selling the car for less than purchase then searching for a decent 6MT and having to deal with inspection n $$$ on tags n title... bro if you havent done it then please dont discourage......

I'd say the vast majority of people here don't have the mechanical knowledge or experience to do a 4AT to 6MT swap. I'm being realistic.

6MT 5.5 gens are going for $4500-5500 around here when they pop up for sale.

i paid for labor also n it was still cheaper than buying one... and i took mines to a shop and it was their 1st time ever doing a 6MT swap to a maxima ever... if there is any local who can do a 5MT swap they can do a 6MT swap, parts wise its the same, labor wise there is literally 1 additional step to doing the 6MT swap and thats where the transmission mounting bracket goes...

Comparing prices it seems like the route you say is cheaper but its not, especially if you are modded, unless you have all OEM parts, but its $128 for just temp tags on a new car here, i got a OEM flywheel for $75 lol and thats one of the more expensive parts... the hassle will now shift from you piecing the parts to demodding your car to keep all your mods, so you will need to buy almost if not all OEM parts, hopefully sell your auto for the same price as the new 6mt you will buy (which to me you would be getting a worse conditioned 6MT for the same price) then the hassle of selling, searching for the 6MT, and all the $$$ that comes with DMV and all... trust me bro..... waaaaay more a hassle than just swapping... may not sound like it but it is...

i say swap it if yu have somebody willing to do the labor or DIY if possible

I have to agree with hustle here. Just take your time to find parts and you'll find good prices. The labor is easy, find a local to help. If you've done a clutch job before, you can do a 6MT swap.

As for me with my 5MT swap, it literally cost me about $300 out of my own pocket from start to finish. Did it in 1 day.

Ok so I have the linkage(s) installed as well as the pedals and master cylinder
I dont have a 6spd engine harness tho...

My boy cef sent me a write up on how to splice the auto harness so that i dont need the manual harness

I guess my question is will splicing the harness even when done cleanly and right cause me to have a check engine light? As we all know that's what we don't want in a 5.5gen

Ive gotten to the point of saying **** the manual engine harness because after weeks of searching I've come up with nothing and its frustrating me. I originally wanted the cleanest job possible when swapping but I just wanna drive my damn car again lol

I also have a manual ecu and the manual ecu

You will only have transmission codes. But that's only until you swap out the auto ecu for the manual ecu that you already have.

Price difference between the auto and manual wasn't worth it for me so
I put a transgo kit in mine and called it a day...

I agree on selling your car and buying a 6mt. I had a 4 at and swapped it and I hated it. I ended up parting it out and bought a 6mt.

But everyone has there own opinion.

After all my reading I'm gonna do the swap, but I can't find this write up you are referring to. Used google search and forums search and it has turned up no results, as I wanna do this swap myself I need to look over the info in that thread ASAP

Referring to older information in the thread.

I will have to 100% disagree with what Scottwax said.

Autos go for much less than Manual cars in Houston, TX.

This is a general blanket statement, not a specific Maxima occurence.

I've been car shopping at least once a year for the last 3 years, in every occurrence Autos come out noticeably cheaper than manuals.

So in the event you want to sell your car and buy a manual one, in the markets of Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio... Be prepared to pay more money.

Also 6MT swaps for non VDC/TCS maximas are very easy, if you're somewhat mechanically inclined... But then again, if you're not mechanically inclined I have no idea why you're even fathoming such a project then.

Problem is what happens when you have TCS/VDC on your Maxima.... I'll find out later this year....
